[Glory of the Dead] - Kodlak is missing @Ysgramor's Tomb

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 9:59 am

Hey !
When I leave from Whiterun, the arrow guides me to Ysgramor's Tomb. But when I enter the tomb, there's no arrow in the compass. When I clear the whole tomb and arrive at Harbinger's fire, the objective "Get to the burial chamber" is completed and it gives me the quest "Speak to Kodlak". Well, there ain't Kodlak to speak to and the quest hangs up.

- I've tried this quest many times even with my mods disabled (except SKSE, which I haven't uninstalled) and always starting from Whiterun.
- I tried player.placeatme command but the new Kodlak didn't react in a way I wanted. I would like to use the other command but I can't find RefID for Kodlak.

Quest as a whole was very buggy for me as well when I did it last night:
-had one CTD and the first since 1.3
-encountered my first dirty and missing textures mostly water on the trip to the tomb
-NPC companions pathing on the trip to tomb got caught in endless loop had to fast travel and meet them there
-Lost Farkas or Vilkas(mix them up all the time...basically the one that doesn't stay at the entrance) inside the tomb as we fought through pretty sure he got hung up on something midway.
-Strange graphic effect when Kodlak faded

The companions and thieves guild in my experience are the buggiest things I have experienced in the game....the Stormcloak side of the Civil War as well(never did the Imperial side so no clue)

Finally I they updated UESPWiki with Kodlak's RefID. I tried to bring back Kodlak with that, but Kodlak didn't show up :( http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Kodlak_Whitemane
Does anyone have information about Kodlak's ghost which is seen in the Tomb? RefID and BaseID. I could try to bring him up with those. That would be my last chance.. I think :S

Farkas (heavy armor trainer) is supposed to stay behind about half way through. I won't spoil the reason, but it is correct behavior.

I'm sorry OP I have done this quest many times and this did not happen in my game.

edit: did you try this?

Kodlak's ghost may not appear when entering the final chamber. Using the console command setstage C06 60 will allow you to put the witch's head in the fire, at which point Korlak's wolf spirit will appear. After defeating the spirit, Korlak may still not appear, at which point the console command setstage C06 200 will end the quest as usual, with Aela exclaiming that she heard Korlak pronounce you leader.

I just finished this quest last night without issue (1.3). Thankfully none of my thieves guild or companions quests have had any bad bugs like this. But I do have an issue with this quest line that I want to get off my chest.

All I wanted was to free Kodlak and then cure myself (because up to this point I didn't particularly enjoy this quest line or being a werewolf). I thought this is where it would happen, but I didn't get the option to cure myself. Upon leaving I went to Windhelm to do my usual vendor run, where I sold the witch heads just to get them out of my inventory because OCD. Then upon sleeping I noticed I still had beast blood. Decided to quit to desktop (had accidentally closed the Task Manager tab earlier, so I couldn't tab out to desktop) and look on uespwiki to find out what was going on. After reading about what to do, I had run back to Windhelm to retrieve my witch heads, then back to Jorrvaskr to get the quest from Farkas, then back to the tomb to kill his wolf spirit and hopefully mine too so I could just be done with the werewolf crap. BUT NO! I was still FORCED to go back to Jorrvaskr and do the same damn thing for Vilkas before I could rid myself of this crap. Sigh.

Should have given me the option to cure myself when I was sitting there the first time with Kodlak. I can't imagine how [censored] this was for people who don't fast travel.

Anyway, back to your quest-breaking bug.
