Kotaku: Ranking TES Games

Post » Thu Jun 06, 2013 6:03 am

This is a bit old now but has anyone seen this? http://kotaku.com/ive-only-played-skyrim-so-i-cant-say-fairly-there-seem-454137043

I haven't noticed any other topics that mentioned this.

Also do you agree with the list? Vote in the poll! I haven't played any of the side games so I have no opinion on those. Take into account how the rankings for the main series was determined prior to voting: (Note the rankings include each game in their entirety, all DLC/expansions, with NO mods).

All if you haven't played all the games in a poll yet, just tell me which ones you have played and your favorite amongst them.

Based on that criteria my personal list for the main series is as following:

1.) Morrowind

2.) Skyrim

3.) Daggerfall

4.) Oblivion

5.) Arena

I think the list is fairly ok, the only change I would do would be to rank Daggerfall a lot higher. The rest of the games are in a right-ish order. Well, maybe swap the Arena and Oblivion games too, not quite sure which of them I would rank higher.

  1. Morrowind
  2. Skyrim
  3. Daggerfall and Oblivion equal, don't really like either although I admire Bethesda's ambition in what they tried to do with DF
  4. Arena

Here is my ranking:

1. Skyrim

2. Morrowind

3. Oblivion

4. Daggerfall

5. Arena

The Op's list is exactly how I rank the games as well. (I never checked the article or whatever) So I said it was "spot on", heh. I would possibly give Oblivion and daggerfall a tie for third.

Ok, re reading it, I don't agree with the list in the article, haha. I thought you were referring to the list in the OP. (I also changed my vote)

So it's as follows for me:

Morrowind

Skyrim

Oblivion/Daggerfall

Arena

Aside from the fact I haven't played Arena we're pretty much on the same page. Although Morrowind and Oblivion are very close and if I don't give Morrowind a brake for low tech they may flip depending on my mood.

Oblivion is better than Arena and Skyrim.

Also, Redguard is a little forgotten gem.

1. Oblivion

2. Skyrim

3. Morrowind (Haven't really played Morrowind that much, maybe if I played it at the right time it would take Skyrim's place in 2nd)

4. Arena (Haven't really played this to an extent either, I just got lost in the Snowy Elsweyr, but It'd be last for me anyway i'm sure)

Haven't played Daggerfall yet. :P
