[Relz] Kragenir's Death Quest v2.0

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:29 am

Okay. I think I'm glitched (or there's an NPC that I can't find)

I'm doing the Maiden Quest given by the Orc on the Anvil Dock. Investigating the death of the Countess. (I'm leaving out pertinent spoiler details)

No one at the castle has any pertinent dialog. This particular castle doesn't have many NPCs anyway. Now there are only two named ones beside the Count: The lady in waiting and the captain of the guard. A thorough search of the castle turns up no one else. The usual suspects in town have nothing to say either.

Advancing the queststage to 15 gets me a message that no one else has any information and I should talk to a certain publican in another town. He doesn't have any dialog either. The log entry seems to indicate that there is one and only one NPC in the castle with info—but I can't find him. Even advancing the quest doesn't have an effect.

Eh... Doing the Aleswell quest with getting stuff for people. It worked in 1.06 so I guess something is messing with it in my new load order.
Anyhow - I got the tomatos for the orc but they don't disappear from my inventory - not did he have a specific topic for it, he just said that the tomatos would do wonders for his crop. And I got 10 tomatos, got added twice and 50 gold pulled twice, atleast I believe that's what happened, I was supposed to get 5 right?

And in Bruma there is a full fire going on in the castle's dining room, but that might not be your mod....

Cheers!

Are you asking where is Fort Strand, or where inside Fort Strand to look?

I know where fort Strand is, it is the location of the scroll I am after.

One small quest was added to Aleswell (which relies on the Zero Visibility quest to be completed) so I'm assuming that one would be unavailable, but this shouldn't break any other quests.

I know where fort Strand is, it is the location of the scroll I am after.

It's in 'Fort Strand Great Dome', in a passage where there are two small stairs going up to a lighted brazier, with some smashed crates/barrels behind it. The scroll is on the floor next to the brazier. I hope that's helpful enough, I don't know how else to describe it...

I think I'm going to add a glow effect to that scroll and some other items placed in dungeons, so they are a bit easier to spot.

Found it , thanks one question though when I download 2,0 and install it
will it affect anything? Would I have to uncheck the one I have now in the
¨datafiles? Perhaps it will say in the instructions for 2.0

Look back in the thread and you will find several posts on this. It is also covered to some degree in the readme files.

It also depends on how far along in the MOD questline you are. For myself, I had completed the main quest and all but a couple of side quests. I enjoyed the MOD the first time, though, I decided to do a clean save and play it again with V. 2.

Your mileage may vary.

Really enjoying this mod so far, povuholo. :D One thing I'm noticing in some of the side quests, though...normally I'm all for cutting down on the quest markers (yes, Oblivion, I can find Kvatch on a map, thanks), but then there are times when I'm asked to go find such-and-such NPC, like Gureryne Selvilo in Chorrol--and between many of Oblivion's non-vanilla-quest-related NPCs all blending together in a mash of blah and the fact that they have schedules that take them all over town, I haven't the foggiest of where to find these people. And then I tend to end up turning to the UESPwiki to figure out who and where they are. So...in quests like that, I feel like quest markers might actually be a help rather than their usual annoyance.

If not quest markers, maybe a bit more clarification in the journal entries? Just adding "Gureryne Selvilo, a healer at the Chapel of Stendarr," would give me a place to at least start looking for him, for example.

Microscopic issue:

Spoiler
In Nornal, KDQ places a Marauder which my char gets a bounty for killing if not attacked first. Perhaps intended, but I thought you could kill evil faction members w/o getting bounty.

Playing KDQ for the first time and enjoying it a lot so far. :)

You do have v. 2.0 installed, don't you? I used to consider the quest-log indications were a bit vague (I don't play a lot, and I play very slowly, so I tend to totally forget the context of this and that between the moment I get a quest and the moment I try to complete it, like, several months later), but these indications have been made much more detailed and specific with that latest update. Exactly the kind you suggest. Maybe still not enough for some quests? I have no idea, but if you spot situations where the indications are really vague, I guess Povuholo might find usefull to get specific feedback.

By the way :whistling: I'm totally lost, actually, in a few quests. That I gave up, like, six months ago, and try to resume now. Example: Vampire Rising. If I recall correctly, and according to my (updated) quest log, I'm supposed to find the information about a certain object from someone who lives in Mathias Draconis' house - the only person living there (who seems to never come out, by the way, and never opens his door to strangers either, so I'm forced to break into it) doesn't have anything interesting to say. I zoomed through the house, but didn't find anything either. Am I missing something, or did I misunderstand/forget what I was supposed to do?
I updated to 2.0 directly from a previous version, no clean save - seems fine overall, by the way, but maybe this might have messed up this quest since I had it (barely) started?

The journal entries were improved a lot in V2.0 and it also added a lot of quest markers for finding NPCs, but it's possible that I missed one every now and then. I'll have a look at the quest with Gureryne Selvilo.

The marauder is supposed to be passive until you loot the amulet. I figured people would assume she is hostile like everything else in the dungeon and attack her right away... Maybe I'll do something to prevent that.

Got a bug report from Malchik himself. There appears to be a problem with the new Leyawiin quest 'Killing the Queen'. Ironically, if you actually kill the rat queen you are unable to redeem your reward from Weebam-Na. This will be fixed soon.

I could put up another hotfix for this or wait a little longer, see if any other issues pop up, and release it as v2.01. For now I'll wait a little longer.

And I thought I was going to be the first to report it. It was the first KDQuest I "finished" this time. Was it an interaction with the Mazoga quest,? Anyhow, will the upcoming fix work for situations with already dead queens? Also, I immediately fell through a seam in the Three Sisters basemant. so that a TCL was necessary to get back out. I didn't try to recreate it yet. If you think it may be your issue, I'll go back to an earlier save and play around for you,

When it is fixed you should be able to finish the quest without any problems if you've already killed the queen. I don't see how the Mazoga quest has anything to do with this though.

I don't think the issue with the Three Sisters Inn basemant is caused by KDQ because I don't think I did anything to the doors, but I'll have a look.

You were supposed to get 5 yeah. I'm not sure how you could've gotten more, because the topic (the greeting actually) from Undena Orethi that gives it to you can only occur once. Could be an upgrading issue.

And in Bruma there is a full fire going on in the castle's dining room, but that might not be your mod....

Cheers!

No I don't think it is. :D

As for Gureryne Selvilo, there's already a quest marker pointing at him during several moments in the quest, including the beginning, but I've improved the journal entry a bit now.

Yep, I'm on 2.0. Some of the quest I've done have had quest markers or much clearer journal entries, or both, but there's been two quests in Chorrol--the one with Gureryne Selvilo, and another involving Rena Bruiant and her dogs (I'm blanking on the names for both quests, naturally)--where I got told to find an NPC with no indication of who they were or where they might be. (With the Rena Bruiant one, though, it was just one NPC--Carmen Litte. I was actually standing right next to her house at the time, but Ms. Bruiant didn't bother pointing that fact out. :P Later in the quest I got much clearer directions to find an NPC at Molag Bal's shrine.)

I don't see how the Mazoga quest has anything to do with this though.

I didn't think it likely. But, since both Killing the Queen and Mazoga the Orc involve Weebm 'na, I wondered if one quest was stepping on the other. I had them running simultaneously, which led to my question.

Thanks for clarifying the journal entry for the second stage of the main quest... but it says "There journal" instead of "The journal". I wasn't going to bother mentioning it, but since you've got some other minor fixes to make... :)

Okay. Got the dope on him from the Wiki.

Can't figure out why I haven't found him. As a matter of fact, I don't remember ever meeting him in the game. If all else fails, there's always the moveto command (since he's a scripted NPC I don't want to use the placeatme command.

Thanks - he's there, but I'm afraid he has nothing interesting to say. Poor guy saw me running all around every few days since weeks, breaking into his house every now and then to check if there was someone else, and asking him questions when he apparently has no idea what I'm talking about, again and again
Probably a glitch due to the update to 2.0 in the middle of a quest? You warned this may cause bugs with some quests, but I figured I would take the chance and see how it goes ;) Seems to be fine in most cases, by the way, got sensible updates on various ongoing quests, and I didn't notice anything (else) messed up untill now.
Anything I can do about it, or should I just give up on this particular quest?
