[Relz] Kragenir's Death Quest (Thread #3)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:08 pm

Request for help deleted. After spending several hours combing a small ruin for a needed quest item with no luck whatsoever, and mentioning it here, I launched the game and found it within five minutes!

Thanks again for this mod. It's given me many hours of pleasure, and looks to provide many more.

Does Halvo Atius ever leave his house? Even UESP doesn't say so: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Helvo_Atius
Spoiler
how then can I complete what his brother asks of me?
Even from an immersive point of view that is just buzz kill to just hang out all day only to find he never comes out or that the house is never unlocked.

The same thing regarding the lady in Anvil who does come out once a day at 4 PM but then her house is always locked
Spoiler
so how do you get in to get the plate - unless your a thief?

thanks for any help in understanding what I'm to do.

He occasionally hangs out in his brother's house, so I managed to speak to him, but I've never seen his own house unlocked.

Psymon: I checked Halvo's ID and that does seem to be the case.

I suppose you'd have to wait for her to come out.

I'm not sure what I can do about these things. It would be weird to hand out all sorts of keys to the player so he can enter the houses...
Ok, that chest is no where to be found.

Okay I see what went wrong. You get a journal entry for picking up the 'Dopey's Treatment' note, but not for just reading it and leaving it there. The journal entry makes the chest appear.

For 1.05 I'll change it so that the journal entry also appears after only reading the note. For now you can pick up the note to activate the journal entry.

I think 09/09/09 is an interesting date for an update, don't you think? :)

Hopefully when the need for frequent updates disappears I can make a start on the new set of quests.

as for Atius - I can check his brothers house (haven't done that)

Lady in Anvil - she locks her door as soon as she leaves -
Spoiler
you have to thieve to do the quest and I initially rummaged around and if it is in there she has it locked on one of many chests. Asking her is a dead end. thieves quest.

I understand now. You don't have to steal any of the plates, everyone gives it to you immediately with two exceptions (which aren't a dead end). The 'dead ends' are people who weren't invited to the party.

When I ask the lady in Anvil about the plates when she finally does come out she has no topic for it. So I thought I had to go into her house. Of course there has been two versions released since I last talked to her. Maybe it has been addressed.

I already know about the other person not invited and the dog painting.

I'm confused, who told you to talk to this lady? And what was her name?

Two great story lines in amongst so much extra content. Should be in top 20 mods permanently. Huge kudos and a big thankyou.

I didn't see your post. Thanks! :)

Version 1.05 is now available!

Changelog:

1.05 09/09/09:

-Added a compatibility patch for Unique Landscapes: Cloudtop Mountains.

-An important 'feed bag' from the start of the Missing Mounts quest has been moved a bit to prevent a wall added by Better Cities from overlapping it.
This fix only works in on a new game. People who update from 1.04 or below and are using Better CIties will still have to
look 'inside' the wall (use TCL) to find the bag when they're supposed to investigate the Bruma stables.

-The rings from 'The One Ring' will no longer show up if you are not currently doing the quest. All rings are now added through script, so
there's no need to keep an eye out for them anymore.

-Added the missing (but not quest breaking) journal entry of the Give a Dog a Bone quest.

-The journal entry triggered by picking up the Treatment for Dopey note is now triggered by just reading it instead.

-The silk green garment for the green component of the Rainbow quest can now be bought through dialogue.

-Made sure Andre Labouche's corpse can't disappear so that the quest related to him can always be completed.
The journal entry related to his letter also won't show up too early anymore.

-The two dead orcs in Culotte related to the Gluttony Quest will not appear until that quest has started.

-Anni's letter in Lazare Milvan's house can no longer be found before the quest it is related to is started.

-Locked a chest in Whitmond Farm (again) that was supposed to be locked.

-Made some rumors less frequent.

-Other minor tweaks.

-Made the quest hints document thrice as long. (And there was much rejoicing!)

Hopefully this is the last major fixing update I have to upload. Of course, I hope that with every version... Anyway if things calm down a bit I can finally get started on those new quests! :)

Thank you for the update, povuholo :)

It's funny now that after I've added this mod and the Rural Line Additions & also Lore Dialogue 300 Updated, everyone has so much to say :) I'm also using ReneerNPCNameMod that hides the names of everyone until after you've talked to them... I don't expect to finish this mod anyime soon :P (Just the way I like it)

In a previous thread for this I asked who had the plates - you gave me a list that I've since wrote down - maybe I got the list wrong but
Spoiler
one of the people was Rusia Bradus: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Rusia_Bradus who only leaves her house at 4:00 PM and when she does she locks her door and does not seem to have dialogue regarding plates.
I may have the wrong person, if so sorry for confusion. If it is the right person then I will have to break in to get it.

[edit] also any chance to gt links to previous threads in main post? - tried looking up that info and couldn't find it.

She does have a plate, but she should have the topic like all the others and hand it over to you. I'll have a look.

Thanks povuholo - for the answer and the update. :) I'd already found a couple of the items, but I guess I didn't look hard enough for the rest. I'll take a closer look next time I'm down there.

Changing the Form ID on the placed object will ensure that it is in the right location for everyone, not just those who haven't already visited Bruma with a previous release of the this mod.

I just ran in to an odd situation I hope you can clarify:

Spoiler
While recovering Kragenir's Death quest gauntlets near Anvil bay I chanced upon a bottle floating on the ocean surface. It directed me to seek treasure in Veyond*. I did so, though I found nothing that triggered a journal update. However, as I backtracked in hope of unearthing an overlooked chest or item, I saw the corpse of Amantius Allectus floating in the water somewhat near the cave entrance. He carried a lootable key (to his home, I assume) but nothing else of worth. Now to my questions.

1.) Is this Yeyond Treasure quest part of Kragenir's?

2.) If so, is Amantius corpse supposed to be there?

My suspicion is that Amantius might be one of numerous NPCs who have elected to explore Cyrodiil via Ayleid Steps (a not always welcome side-effect of that mod). If that's the case, I'll likely resurrect him and go about my business (the cave's now totally cleared of critters). If, however, he's supposed to be where and as he is, I'll leave it be.

*YIKES! I just discovered that there are two Veyonds, the cave I visited just north of Bravil, and an Ayleid Ruin near Leyawiin. With my luck I was in the wrong one. Heh!

Thanks in advance!

Great, great mod -- haven't had this much fun frustration since Zork! Clever puzzles, tongue-in-cheek insanity, fractured fairy tales (oops, another age-revealing reference), an old-school encouraging of note-taking... what's not to love?

Btw, I've found a slight incompatibility with Valley View Estate; Tuck Little is right in the middle of a rock outcropping added (changed?) by said mod, but this would easily be fixed by moving him a little bit more to the North, down the hillside.

Cant seem to find doc?s mortar and pestle even with version 1.05, maybe wait for a cell respawn ?? (or someone kindly give me a hint??)
No journal entry was given after picking the seed of the oompa lompa and the quest target marker still points to the tree, even after collecting it (by the way, if you push that tree just a bit to the side it wont conflict with the bridge to castle dunkerlore)

thank you for this great mod!!

Hmm... If you got Doc's note that tells you to use the mortar and pestle before updating to 1.05 it's possible that it still doesn't work. Dropping the note and picking it up again or using the console command 'setstage povssquestdwarven 82' should work.

1. Yes.
2. No, that's most likely that mod you mentioned.

Thanks!

With a clean save you mean disabling the mod, loading and saving the game, and then activating the mod again, right? Yes it should.

I started working on the new batch of miscellaneous quests.
