[Relz] Kragenir's Death Quest (Thread #4)

I have everything that Happy needs to
Spoiler
make a new key
but there's no topic for me to give him the stuff. What should I do?

He should take everything he needs from you in his greeting if you have everything.

Do you have the key mould?

Than ks for the quick reply. That got me past it. I had an extra one in my inventory!

Okay thanks for the info, I'll make sure it keeps extra bear pelts in account for the update.

I have hit an odd bug in the 'Helmet of Greed' quest.

I am at the part in Chorrol. After speaking to the Steward
Spoiler
about Futurus X's ruin
, I noticed most of the houses south of the church were gone (except for the doors). I reloaded my game and checked this area out. Before I speak to the Steward, the houses are visible. It is only after I speak to the Steward that they disappear. I was able to speak to Casta, and paid a visit to the guy she mentioned. When I clicked on the Oak and Crosier door (to fulfill the NPC's request), a CTD occurred.

I had a land tear on the green road, right in the middle of a bridge. I can't tell what's doing it though. I haven't been down that road in ages because I usually fly everywhere.

So... You talk to Laythe Wavrick, and then you get the following journal entry:

Spoiler
I should ask Casta Scribonia here at Chorrol about Futurus X's book, which is about his success. I should also ask Honditar about the location of Futurus X's palace.

And you're saying that after that everything is messed up? What if you enter and leave the place that the steward was in (the castle I assume) without talking to him? Or if you talk to him outside?

There's absolutely nothing special about this conversation or the journal entry, so I find it hard to imagine that it is the source of your problems.

Are you using any Unique Landscapes mods? Maybe we missed a conflict...

Nope, not using UL. If I have time I'll see if I can isolate it.

I am using UL's Chorrol Hinterland mod, but none of the Better Cities mods. In any event, I went to the Odil farm to get my stuff, and when I returned, the buildings were back.

I am now in a certain cave the quest has directed me to.

I'm doing the helmet quest in the main quest and have to show Marcus a book now that I have the gauntlets. The problem is I don't remember where the heck Marcus is.

One thing I have a slight issue with in this is the lack of quest markers. Unfortunately I have WAY too much going on in life (work, home, family, band, animals, etc) and when I sit back down to play I find myself pouring over quest logs to find the location of an NPC that I need to talk to because I've forgotten where they were and didn't physically write it down. Sometimes I find it and sometimes I don't. I have no idea where to go at this point.

He is in the house of Fathis Ules.

I'm adding some extra quest markers (especially for these kind of things) in the next version.

So, if I click off my mod, then click it back on, will the KDQ quest line start over again?

Yeah. If you disable the mod, load a save and save it with the mod disabled, all your progress on the KDQ quests will be gone forever, even if you activate the mod again later. Why?

Honditar will tell you. At some point you had multiple NPCs to visit and Honditar was one of them. It's possible that you forgot him.

edit: He also marks the place on your map.

Funny how every time you post a question I immediately get an idea for an improvement related to it... :P

I may have forgotten to ask him, I don't remember. I thought he was in Dar Ma's store in Chorrol but he's not there anymore.

Yet another stupid question.

I'm after the robe of lust. I couldn't find it so I went into the CS to locate it and it looks like it is in
Spoiler
Margarate's house. I picked up the green robe on the floor
but nothing happened.

Am I in the right place? Is that that robe? What about the note? I'm totally stumped here.

I need a hint (but hopefully no spoiler unless absolutely necessary) with Vampire Rising.

I began this quest ages ago, became stuck at the part where we need to find an item somewhere IC Arboretum, abandoned it and moved on to other things. I've now completed many of the Kragenir side quests and main quest, so am back to Vampire. Once again after an extensive search I've yet to find an item that updates my journal.

To complicate matters, I have a vague memory of coming upon an item at or next to the base of one of those circular stone statue pedestals (or maybe a mini garden). But picking up that item triggered no update. Nor do I recall what it was I found then, or what I did with it. Might have been coincidence?

To further complicate matters, I run ImpeREAL City - Unique Districts, which alters the Arboretum. Prolly doesn't matter, since ImpeREAL alters all the districts to an extent, and has never yet affected a Kragenir quest. Still, it's worth mentioning.

Unless there is a known glitch with this phase of Vampire, I'm looking, as mentioned above, more for hints at this time rather than an out-and-out spoiler.

Thanks in advance!

Decrepit,
I can give you another clue though: as you have probably noticed, most of the quest line updates trigger when you speak to Thamriel after you have collected each pair of items and you activate the objects option speaking to her with them in your inventory.

She sends you to collect the items, you get them and then you speak to her and the quest updates: she removes the (pair of) items from your inventory and sends you searching for the next pair.

There isn't a journal entry associated with picking up some of the items, like the 3 pieces of garlic. It would probably make things a little less confusing if it did so I'll have a look at it. But it is normal behaviour.

I finally tracked Thamriel down this morning (been busy exploring the latest build of Elsweyr_Anequina). She had no text option relating to Vampire Rising. (She does have an option for a different Kragenir quest.) I do have three pieces of garlic in my inventory, but can't recall how or when I acquired them. They might or might not be what I found in the Arboretum. As mentioned, I last worked on this Vampire long ago and memories of it are vague. I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that I found something in the Arboretum, and garlic feels right. It is some specific garlic (assuming garlic is what I need) pieces I need? (Sorry, I forgot to write down the exact name of the garlic in my inventory.)

Thanks again!

I assume you're at the point that you've talked to Simon who has told you to look for his robe? That's the right house indeed. The note is underneath it, which'll lead you to another dungeon. You're close. :P

By the way I just found out that the name of the dungeon it mentioned is not only the name of the Ayleid Ruin, but also that of a cave to the north of Bravil. You need to go to the Ayleid Ruin. It's north east of Leyawiin and will be marked on your map when you pick up the note.

And now I've made some improvements to the Lust quest. Seriously, if you keep on asking questions the mod will be perfect in no time!

I should really try some of your mods some time, anything related to the Baldur's Gate series can only be good. :foodndrink:

They should be called 'efficacious garlic' and they should be quest items. This is the 'good' item. You also need the opposite, an evil/vampire item. Someone who lives in the house of Mathias Draconis ( 3 people live there) will have had a dream about it and can tell you where it is. If you've already talked to the right person you should already have a journal entry in your log about where it could be.

edit: Ah, we've almost reached the post limit already. I'll create a new one when this one is full.

Thanks for the reply. Efficacious Garlic is indeed what is housed in my inventory, so I'm okay there. A dream with associated "evil item(s)" does not ring a bell at all. I'm gonna assume I never stumbled across that NPC. Gonna investigate it later today.

How goes work on the update/expansion? I'm drooling in anticipation!

It should be in the first journal entry. You are supposed to look for the evil item and the balancing item. But if you go for the good item you'll get a journal entry which no longer mentions that you still need to look for the other item as well.

Still going. Malchik was rather ill the last two weeks so he hasn't tested anything yet and I haven't been able to ask a few questions yet, but progress is pretty good. I had a question about one quest and once that is answered I can finish that one in 15 minutes. Besides that I still need to do around 75% of the Cluttermonkey questline/faction, and the 'Party Time' quest which is related to the Orc Social Club that Shum gro-Yarug is said to be a member of.

Then there are some small fixes/tweaks on the to-do list, and there are all sorts of things I fix when people e-mail me or post here. With how things look like now I should be able to release it before February.
