[Relz] Kragenir's Death Quest (Thread #4)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:16 pm

And one question regarding the main quest, SEAL 2:
I got the quest update: Ilplanderin ate the oranges :D .

problem is that there are still 4 oranges in my inventory (I was definitely carrying six)!!!
has anyone else reported a similar glitch?

I'm going to guess it's an interaction with another mod: a pouch, bag, or sorter mod perhaps?

one more quest I forgot to mention povuholo:

"The greatest story never told":
the player has no hint whatsoever - looking for the aforementioned object all over Cyrodiil is at least frustrating

My idea was that the item can be retrieved somewhere during your main questline but that's merely an assumption I made...

thanks again for this masterpiece mate :foodndrink:

I think the next version number is going to be 2.0 rather than 1.1, considering how much it adds compared to previous updates.

This is the planning for 2.0.

What I've done:

-Rumours added by the mod will no longer be told in the Shivering Isles.
-Added the first journal entry for the Aleswell quest which mysteriously disappeared...
-Added the possibility to refuse many of the miscellaneous quests.
-Jhared Strongblade will now 'repair' his weapon and armor after each dungeon you clear with him.
-Fixed a problem with opening a chest in Whitmond Farm.

New quests:

Anvil: Sounds of Sweetest Harmony

What I'm doing:

New quests:

Bravil: Off the record
Bruma: Out of Control
Cheydinhal: A Dyeing Wish
Chorrol: Rich pickings
Leyawiin: Killing the Queen
Skingrad: Party Time

The Cluttermonkeys
Death and the Maiden

What I still need to look at:

-Better clues as to what to do for the cards/chest of wonder quest, the lucky sleepers quest, and "the greatest story never told" quest.
-Clearer journal entries in general.
-The ability to set the documents quest as 'completed' at any time if the player is unable to find them all (which is understandable because they're not always easy to find).
-Have the Daedra Zoo open at all times rather than opening it only when access is required in the mod's main quest.
-Several other things.

What I might do:

-A new quest taking you out to the seas on a boat, a bit similar to the vanilla quest on the Bloated Float. I have a few ideas in my mind but nothing on paper. It would be very different from the other quests added by the mod. Whether I'm adding this depends on how much time I'll have after doing all of the above.
-Investigate the problem with vanilla NPCs randomly disappearing. It is unlikely I can do anything about this though, even setting them essential as it was done from the start doesn't seem to help.

Are there any substance in the rumour about the haunted house in the West Wealds? If so where is it, I have searched
but I could not find it. about the spectral slaughterfish, I hope I will not need the cats eye later because my computer
crashed when I tried to pick it up after I had extracted the ink.

You don't need it later. In fact, it would probably be better if it just disappeared after it's dropped... Either way I'll check if the crash was caused by the ring.

About the rumour, I think it's just a rumour. Malchik wrote them so I'm not sure, but I do know there's no quest related to it unless it's a part of the main quest.

In my opinion, you should approach the "Documents" quest, the same way as the Cards/Chest of Wanders quest: more clues

A quest being active for a long time is no problem, everybody has numerous quests open - after all this is the meaning of free form RPG.

The problem is a quest that cannot be solved due to a lack of hints on how to proceed

What you could do is add travellers that walk from Anvil to Leyawiin by road, and who will give you quests once a day when they see you. Some of these quests could be easy, and others take a while. But make sure that they don't give new quests until you have the first quest they gave you completed.

I have finally managed to obtain the feather and were told to show it to
Marana Rian and I think she took it! I have searched her house and her
but I cannot find it, I am going to need it to finish the quest or?
I went to Cheydinal and willows bank but I cannot get info out
of the fellow in the church, I have obtained the necklace and I am
pretty certain what I am going to do with it but this damn feather, I
should have paid up the 50 000 directly.

The problem with the Documents quests is that each document is a separate quest and completely unrelated to the others. There is no reason why there would be a clue to point to the next document's location.

The feather shows up as an ingredient in your inventory, did you check there? She doesn't take the feather (not if you show it to her anyway).

What happened when you talked to Marvo at the chapel? Did he have a custom greeting? And what necklace are you talking about? Sorry, my memory is fuzzy.

Unless I'm missing something obvious (always a possibility), I might have hit a glitch...

Spoiler
I am now escorting former knights to their new home outside Leyawiin. I did two without problem. However, the third (one of the IC knights) keeps asking to go further into the house. Only, I reach a door that needs a key, which I don't have. Nor can I recall how I originally got the door open. Wasn't it a reward for helping one of the dwarves? Whatever the case, I'm given no hints as to what to do about it. Is this working as intended or a glitch? If the latter, is there a workaround?

In a different thread, you asked to use one of my screenshots for your Nexus page. I replied there, but in case you missed it... yes... please feel free to do so. I'd be honored.

As far as I know all doors inside the house should be unlocked at that point so there's no harm in unlocking them. You can open the console, select the door and type 'unlock' to unlock it. Perhaps you updated the mod which caused the door to be locked again? I don't know if that can happen, I don't remember changing anything. But I'll check. If you can't figure it out, which door (and knight) is it specifically?

And thanks for the screenshot. :)

Update: The knight in question is Marcus Spenserius. However, I have since found that he actually doesn't need to go beyond the door, but rather accepts a spot down another passageway near it. Once discovering that, I restored my save so that "wooden door" (28005ea6) remains locked in case there's a reason for it. Now that I know the trick it'll be easy enough to unlock if and when the need arises.

What if you connected all Documents to a specific NPC?

Of course I am not aware of the amount of work such a solution would require scriptwise.

If that is too complicated it could be an NPC sending you to a location where a book exists including clues regarding the location of each doc.

just a bit of brainstorming, trying to help ;)

You were right the feather was in the alchemical portion, but I still have not gotten a response
from the fellow in the church, I thought I should use the necklace of personality on Villida but nothing
happens, I know i have to get her to fort Coldcorn somehow and break up the engagement but I do not have a clue
as to how? I have the cure for drunkeness, the feather, the books Varietes of Daedra and Mysticism, I am totally
clueless of how to proceed.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Are you talking about any quests in particular?

What I mean is perhaps these travellers will run into you along the road, and one might explain he is down and out and could use some help...and give you a quest of some kind. Then the next time you run into him, at least a day after you have completed the first quest he gave you...he is a little better off, but now wants you to fulfill another quest for him. Repeat cycle...maybe he could give you about 10 quests in total. But you have to finish each one before he gives you another. Multiply this by several similar travelers, and you could have several dozen quests.

The thing is...you have to find this traveller, because he is always on the road walking. You never know where or when you might run into him.

I am getting CTD\'s in Fingerbowl Cave, whenever I try to activate the entry to any of the crypts inside. Is this a mod bug, or being caused by something else?

EDIT: I tried using the COC console command, and got a CTD. I am guessing there is something placed inside the Noble Crypt (the one I tried to coc to) that is causing the CTD.

Hey,

I wanted to give some general feedback.

Povuholo, the vision and scope of this mod is wonderful. I love that you entwine the quests throughout the land and add so much to the game - a whole new, vast experience.

I hope you feel encouraged knowing that the scope of your project is going to warrant bugs/feedback that is critical - but I worried it might detract from your sense of accomplishment!

Modders, like you, who shoot for such encompassing mods really give a major gift to the community.

I have only played a wee bit of the mod since I play immersively and roleplay and only do things as my character acts upon them - i.e. I don't "plow" through any one quest chain at a time.

Kudos and I look forward to future releases of the mod as it is polished!

The only thing the mod adds to the Noble Crypt is one container with a piece of paper in it, I don't see how that would crash the game. Either another mod you're using is causing the problem on its own or this is the weirdest conflict ever.
I wanted to give some general feedback.

Thanks! :)

I was quite busy the last few weeks but now I'm back on track.

A quest progress update:

Anvil: Done.
Bravil: Halfway through I think.
Bruma: Almost done.
Cheydinhal: Haven't started it yet.
Chorrol: Almost done.
Leyawiin: Almost done.
Skingrad: Haven't started it yet.

Death and the Maiden: Did a little bit.
Cluttermonkeys: Haven't started it yet.

Then there are several other things that need attention but the new quests take the most time.

Also a small request. Could someone add the mod to http://knol.google.com/k/devnull-devakm/toql-big-quest-mods/2xu0v7u1nzut0/4? Anyone can update it but usually the descriptions mention someone's own experiences with the mod a bit and it wouldn't be right for me to add KDQ to the list and praise it anonymously. :P
(Looks like they're added chronologically so it can be added to the top? :hehe:)

I have a problem in the vampire rising quest, I found the scroll about Buffy and I am
supposed to talk to this woman how and where to perform the summoning, the problem is
that I got a questmarker showing that she is supposed to be in imp market but she is not,
so I checked her house in Talos plaza, not there either so she is simply gone very frustrating.

one more thing I noticed povuholo:

quest "just desserts"
I got the map marker for Alessia Ottus near Derelict mine
I went there only she was nowhere to be found.

To make the long story short I had to use the console (place at me) in order to trigger next quest stage and marked her as essential afterwards (don't think she would make it to the IC :P )

strange thing is that I thought you marked as essential all NPCs you used in the mod...

It's not easy to find everybody you can talk to.
Spoiler
I thought I had seen all done everything but then I retracked, checked all the books that were noted on Phintius list - not all books bought from him are important to the quest, the note says which are. Then I did all the people and made sure I didn't miss anyone or the books they had bought. When I checked the last book I got a quest popup telling me what I thought about it all.
I know it is a very methodical quest, one has to keep track of what one is doing and who one speaks to. Hope you get through it, took me a while :P

Cheers!
