Salmo's house is always locked for some reason, and going in is trespassing. I ran into this problem when I did the Party Time quest. It might be a bug with Better Cities... I could ask over there too.

Hmm, I have Better Cities and Kragenir's, and didn't have this problem. It is true that Salmo's house is only unlocked for a few hours--it's not really a shop that is open all day, it's just his kitchen where he makes the baked goods that are sold elsewhere. So see http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Salmo; I've stopped by a little after 3pm and found him there with the door unlocked.

Anyway, glad you're still working on this, Povuholo. I could never really get into vanilla Oblivion, everything was so generic and perfunctory. The things your mod adds--the extra NPC dialogue, the quests, etc.--make the world feel so much more alive and interesting.

Anyway, glad you're still working on this, Povuholo. I could never really get into vanilla Oblivion, everything was so generic and perfunctory. The things your mod adds--the extra NPC dialogue, the quests, etc.--make the world feel so much more alive and interesting.


I've noticed that Salmo has had a tendency to go wandering out in the wilderness and getting himself into trouble since he isn't set to essential. I've had to resurrect him twice in order to do Party Time(the ultimate fetch and carry quest it seems).

Oh... I see. Hmm. UESP says that he sleeps from 10 PM to 6 AM and eats from 3 to 5 PM, but has nothing about his shop hours. It also mentions a bug with his AI packages. Maybe I just have to stop in when he's eating? Thanks for the heads-up.

There seems to be serious bugs with the Babysitting Quest. After initially talking to Jhared at the Thorn Lodge I set off for The Beast's Maw. I got 3 CTDs on my way there - this is unusual in itself for me over such a short playtime. I finally arrive and go through the caves with him and get to the point where he finds his souvenier. However on attempting to exit The Beast's Maw it CTDs after the loading screen. Loading any previous save inside the cave and attempting to exit results in a CTD. I then try loading my save outside the cave and it CTD, in short Jhared is corrupting my savegames! It seems all my savegames between first meeting Jhared at the Lodge and meeting him at the cave entrance are corrupt. They either immediately CTD or they load up fine but if I make a save after, that save will then CTD on me if I attempt to reload it. It seems I'll have to load up a save before I first met him and leave him in the Lodge for the time being.

Note that Arren and Wolfgang were with me but Vilja is currently with Heneri at the Cheydinhal Bridge Inn. I've tried telling Arren and Wolfgang to wait and gone on with Jhared without them but I still run into problems.

I have done this quest, without any CTD problems. Most probably something at your setup.

Do you get crashes when not doing this quest, in the same area?

I've been in The Beast's Maw twice before without problems, normally I only get around 1 crash an hour playing generally which I consider good going for the modlist I have on my computer, so for it to suddenly go crazy on me points to a bug in the mod itself or some kind of mod conflict. If that's the case, my main suspect would be Arren since he seems to have a few wierd and somewhat buggy quirks, so next time I go visit I might try leaving Arren at the Merchants Inn. Another - but quite unlikely - possibility is Enhanced Economy since that is one of the dungeons that Mach-Na wants me to visit in case her book is there. It's possible that the two quest scripts are fighting with each other and causing the crashing.

Question concerning Vamp Rising:

My avatar does not and never will join either the Dark Brotherhood or Thief guilds. One phase of Vamp requires a vial of Vampire Blood (amongst other things). At first I thought it was gonna be easy, having obtained a vial or two of blood from another quest-mod. But the Vamp quest NPC did not accept that vial, which I now assume to be mod-specific. My Vamp quest journal entry suggests that non guild members can can obtain blood from the non-Sanctuary abodes of Brotherhood members. Is this indeed the case? I'm sure I've not unearthed every Brotherhood member in Cyrodiil, but those I did find housed no blood in their dwellings (unless it was very well hidden). I'm not looking for an out-and-out spoiler, just confirmation that if I keep at it my hunt will eventually bear fruit.


Finished the main quest not too long ago.

Near its end, one has to visit Doc at Snow White's Dive Rock home. Doc was there alright, but impossible to reach except by disabling collision. My guess is that he is supposed to stationed in front of that sealed-off tunnel passage in the cave beneath the house. In my case, he was on the far side of that sealing boulder. As mentioned, disabling collision let me reach him easily enough, and since Doc teleports out rather than walks the quest is not broken. Still, it might be worth looking into.

Another - but quite unlikely - possibility is Enhanced Economy since that is one of the dungeons that Mach-Na wants me to visit in case her book is there. It's possible that the two quest scripts are fighting with each other and causing the crashing.

Possible, but doubtful. I use EE and KDQ, and I've never run into a problem with them. I don't recall that I've ever visited a dungeon with Jared that turned out to be an EE quest location, but I doubt it would do anything - one set of scripts affects containers, while the other is keyed to a specific location.

Question concerning Vamp Rising:

My avatar does not and never will join either the Dark Brotherhood or Thief guilds. One phase of Vamp requires a vial of Vampire Blood (amongst other things). At first I thought it was gonna be easy, having obtained a vial or two of blood from another quest-mod. But the Vamp quest NPC did not accept that vial, which I now assume to be mod-specific. My Vamp quest journal entry suggests that non guild members can can obtain blood from the non-Sanctuary abodes of Brotherhood members. Is this indeed the case? I'm sure I've not unearthed every Brotherhood member in Cyrodiil, but those I did find housed no blood in their dwellings (unless it was very well hidden). I'm not looking for an out-and-out spoiler, just confirmation that if I keep at it my hunt will eventually bear fruit.


I believe it's possible, I'll have to check how I did it exactly.

As for the issue with Jhared and crashes... I'll have a look at the scripting on him, but it's a pretty standard escort/follow quest. I don't see why it would make the game crash like that, if that's really the cause... But you can definitely rule out EE.

I have done this quest, without any CTD problems. Most probably something at your setup.

Seconded. It might not hurt to look your mods over in TES4Edit to see if you have any major conflicts.

I'm doing Death and the Maiden, and I went searching for the berries. I found the blackened area where they're supposed to be... but they aren't there - all I found was a chest with random loot in it. I searched around the circle, but the only plants I found where lots of mushrooms and some milk thistle. Did I miss something?

Did you find the berries? IIRC they were actually a little to the north east of the scorched spot, but I've moved them on top of the black spot for the upcoming update to avoid further confusion. Especially since the quest marker points right to the scorched spot.

The update isn't quite done yet, but progress has been made. More news this weekend.

Was WalkerInShadows writing a comprehensive walkthrough for KDQ? Any updates?

PS: I found a camp (forget which) that had a sack added by KDQ. I figured this would have a gemstone (from the Crown of the Stars quest), but it was empty. Is it possible that some NPC looted that sack before I did, and now I can't get that gemstone at all?

Still working on it. It's slow because I'm only adding quests as I complete them, to avoid spoiling myself. :) I'll do an update as soon as I finish Death and the Maiden - it's a rather long and involved quest. I've made some updates to the Stars quest, fixed Jhared's name (I mispelled it as Jared), added more detailed locations for some of the pillars of wisdom (the ones I've found so far), and started on the Champion of Clutter quest (just a list of NPCs and the items they want).

It's possible, if you're using MMM's Looting NPCs, but any items they loot appear in their inventory. The trouble is finding the right one. :) When I went to find one of the items for the Akaviri Obsession quest, one of the NPCs in the dungeon had snatched up the item before I got there, which I found after I killed her.

One question regarding spoilers: How much is too much? I mean, obviously revealing anything that's not written in the journal is a spoiler, but should I just blank out the spoilerish parts, or do entire quest walkthrough to be safe? Here's an example from Running Wild:

Gan tells you he needs some bitter aloes, which can't be found in Cyrodiil, but his friend James just happens to have some. Problem is, he's down at Ft. Istirus doing research. Once you get down there, look around: he's not actually near the fort; he's behind a large boulder a few hundred yards downhill, dead. Once you find him, grab the aloes and head back to Bruma and meet up with Gan Luseph again. He'll mix up a potion for you; take that to Olfand for a reward.

The bolded part is the real spoiler, since Gan will tell you that James is at Ft. Istirus. Is that good enough, or should I just blank the whole thing?


Oh, another question: I was doing the Killing the Queen quest and I could find only one place that had rats. I talked to everyone who lived in houses with basemants, but only one had the Rats topic, so I gave up and collected my 50 gold. Where are they?

First bug - Baby Sitting quest

I'm having some trouble with Jhared. Everything worked fine after finishing the first dungeon and returning to the Knight of the Thorn Lodge. After the second dungeon was complete, he was still following me, so I took him back to the Lodge again, and after a couple minutes he stopped following me again (to be replaced by what looked like the vanilla version; but I'm not sure). Now, I've just completed the third dungeon, and since he was still following me again I took him back to the lodge. No luck this time; I cannot get him to stop doing so, and I can't get the quest to advance to the next stage.

What would you recommend? What console commands if any can I use to force this quest to the next stage?


Second bug - General
I'm receiving 2x the payment that I'm supposed to receive for most quests. For example,

After completing the first part of the main quest - taking Snow White to the new house - I received two copies of the First Seal, and two copies of her portrait. One was at the beginning of the conversation, and one was at the end. For most other quests, I receive double the gold payment etc. This also works in the other direction. For example, when I completed the "Happy Birthday" quest I had some extra Dragons' Tongues etc. in my inventory; the game took 2x what it was supposed to from me.

This has not happened in my game - I just finished the second adventure with J(h?)ared at Fort Entius. Once in the main chamber, there was some quest update about Jhared finding a earthen pot with a face on it, and as the player asks Jhared to keep it, his eyes light up. We should proceed to the exit.

Once out, Jhared stayed there as expected. I play with 254+ mods, so I guess KDQ is not bugged in that aspect. I suspect mod interaction in your setup.

I'll agree with anithinks here. I've been through the entire quest and never ran into any problems.

Hey,

I refused to do the main quest because at first I though... well, about the OOO/FCOM problem (high level dungeons in the begining), that I already have so many quests to do and since I want to roleplay my character... well, he has to deal with so many stuff that I actually would refuse to do it at first xD Also I found it not to be serious enough, but since I'm reading here it gets serious after a while that isn't a problem... not that I don't like the humor in this mod, I love it, like the "Ask the nine" reward thing in Chorrol xD But the whole main quest was a bit too much...

Anyway, I've ended up deciding that I want to do the main storyline, how could I without disabling/enabling the mod? (I have already done some quests, and I've played the mod with other characters so I don't really want to make those quests for the 3rd time...)

In my game and with the latest Kragenir there are two Jareds - so it might depend on which you recruit. One was supposed to be disabled I think - search back in the thread I reported on it and got a response a few months back.

He isn't supposed to have wandered off, other nearby NPCs have nothing to say about him, and I got no quest update about this, so I'm pretty sure this is unintentional. Can someone tell me his BaseID so I can spawn a new copy of him?

This has been reported before, I don't get what's happening here. What is the last journal entry you have for the quest? It is supposed to be 'Another Cluttermonkey member is staying in the cellar of the Two Sisters Lodge at Skingrad.'. If not, let me know. You can set it yourself with 'setstage povssClutterMonkeysQuest 17'. All Cluttermonkey members are disabled until they're needed, and that stage, which is supposed to pop up after you hand over the last clutter pieces to Ivor, is supposed to make him appear.

In that sense it works in the exact same way for Guff as it does for the other members, so if Ivor shows up then Guff should too. Unless something else is wrong.
