How does one best describe our Dread Father? Imagine a perfect, cloudless midnight, cold as winter ice and shrouded in shadow. That is Sithis. - Lucian Lachance

Sithis is a fridge with the door closed by Lucian.

Ah, Anne Rice, who showed us how to trample artistic merit with religion and trample religion with financial troubles.

Well given the popularity of the Gothic Mods of Morrowind, who didnt see OB"s Dark Brotherhood coming? My Assassin uses the Morag Tong Robes and Red Hood, so I guess I dont qualify as 'Goth' (I wont insult the Goths by mistaking them with Emo's) but I do love that Raven perch mod.....

Gothic medieval is very easy to do, and it's not campy awfulness. All it requires is some good Mount&Blade leather and cloth armor, and a lot of facial hair.

And besides, MK's alter ego is Vehk; Tedder's alter egos are a bunch of nerdy authors. Should the argument get physical, they wouldn't stand a chance.

And I do mean physical, knowing Vivec. Nyuck nyuck nyuck.

To nerdy authorship from Madness's Summit,
I've fallen shivering, down and down I plummet,
Dropping lower and lower each night and day,
Merely look to the Hunt and nest of corvus corvidae
And you'll hear the last of the Dam Dog's moans
As the abyss becomes one of thorns and bones
From God to scribe to naught but a fading breeze
To the house of the scrolls someone else has the keyes.

'Keyes' again, I feel I'm missing something for the second time in a row...

you'll have to excuse sheoGoRath. hE was just reacting to the notion that vehk is stronGer.

Ah, so my suspicions were true, though you must forgive me for not taking the poem to heart; between yourself and the Prince of Madness I have been placed securely on the Golden Road... :)

And I am very exited as well...

Never read Greg Keyes, but they should totally rename it steampop. It seems like that [censored]'s everywhere nowadays.

You guys always give me something good and somewhat stimulating to read. I can just imagine all of you in the Arcane University, sitting in a circle and arguing over whether or not the dragon is going to break again.
Thanks a lot!

Indeed, they have powers we mortals know not, including the ability to quote everything that Vivec ever said.

I know that I'm slow and all, but why is Ted referencing Greg Keyes? He's the author of the Age of Unreason series of course (which I haven't read either).

Thanks. Does this mean he will contribute to the games, or will it be just a novelization taken from the Elder Scrolls?

Greg Keyes' Briar King Series was what I thought of when first learning about the Slaver Ayleids and the human rebellion.

Greg Keyes: Right now I'm trying to figure out what I want to write next. I finished Thorn and Bone and got to thinking, "What now?" I wasn't really sure. I was just approached to write some Elder Scrolls, though, and it's great because my research is to play Oblivion [Elder Scrolls IV]. [Laughs]

Quick Ted, save him from an ignoble deed!

Also, he totally looks like the Limbo of the Lost guy.

Unlike the LOL guy, Keyes is crying all the way to the bank (instead of to the courts).

As I asked: does this mean that Keyes is writing for a game, or just a novelization?

Don't know. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=852079&view=findpost&p=12421053 suggests a novelisation. Keyes own statement "a bit of Elder Scrolls" doesn't, though.

Tedders seems enthusiastic, though. Have you spoken to the guy, Ted? Can you introduce us? Does he know just what he's getting into? Will you being collaborating or advising?

All i can say is that if anyone tries to write lore for TES and only has OB experience, its going to come out terrible

Not necessarily. With a basic understanding of the races and places, it's still probably going to be a good story. The guy's written for Star Wars and Babylon 5, so he knows how to write for different IPs, and presumably do it without upsetting fans. Likely he'll look at the lore for a bit, write a bunch of characters that to conform to the lore demands, then have them involved in a plot that doesn't have much to do with other Elder Scrolls events and would work in any setting. Storytelling skill is going to negate any criticism people might have with lack of lore. A similar process might be seen as having gone into the Shivering Isles expansion.

Although Keyes would be an excellent choice of writer, I'm not a fan of novelizations. The Elder Scrolls lore is too large to fit into one fictional book, or even a series of books, as other than the short stories that we're given in-game. You couldn't pin the Nerevarine down into one gender or race, for example.

I don't know . . . I guess there's an audience for it, but I'm going to stick to computer games.
By the way, kudos again to Ted for all the years he's given the series.

But that's what Albides is saying. This book, if it is a book, wont touch on the story of any of the past games. It will be a seperate story about people we probably have never heard of, not a novelization of a game.

If a novelization does come out, we'll have to brace ourselves for another flood of erstwhile fantasy beginners, furrowing their brows claiming their little TES novels are canon, making ridiculous statements and claims.

What is canon if a novelization does happen?
