Labyrinthian

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:20 am

This is a very memorable Dungeon in Arena. It was a very large dungeon maze.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Labyrinthian

I know they could just make other, new dungeons. but seeing things like this return from Arena would be nice.

EDIT: i don't want the dungeon to be exactly the same. just the same name and very similar in feel (large, challenging, puzzles and so on)

as someone says later in the thread "re-imagine it, don't port it"

I haven't voted yet, I like the idea of it (I haven't actually played Arena) but I'd rather they used it to influence another dungeon, there doesn't seem to be an option in the pole to reflect this.

"I never played arena, but the link you provided below made me want it."

Yes, I would like a large labyrinthian dungeon-maze in Skyrim. :)
Well, they did say they would make more traps and puzzles...

EDIT: I don't know if I want the exact same Labyrinthian to appear, but something similar to [those maps you linked to] would be nice.

I don't want it exactly the same. just the same name and idea (long, tough, riddles etc.)

I have played Arena, but didn't get very far. So I've never been in the Labrythian, sounds cool though.

Re-imagine it, don't port it.

I mean, a huge dungeon? Great idea. Two levels? meh. I want something that's incredibly complex, multi-level, and unique. As difficult to navigate as, say, a Phantasy Star 2 dam, but for more rational reasons. (Ie, no need to floor-hop every 3 feet, with three ways to go. Better to have a larger chunk of dungeon, with six or eight possible paths, some of which lead you backwards!).

I also want some epic "stuff" to find, whether it be loot, history, or M'aiq the Liar hanging upside down by his tail after getting caught in a trap.

This = Worthy of one of http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

And, the Labyrinthian should return in all it's glory. Maybe as the hardest dungeon in the game? Who knows.

I like that! M'aiq the Immortal. :goodjob:

As to the topic that place sounds awesome so I definitely think it should be added/reimagined for Skyrim!

Yes please! Especially if it actually looks like a part of the Staff of Chaos was actually held there. Like, a central room with a statue of an ancient Nordic hero that distinctly looks like it used to have a staff, surrounded by a bunch of burn marks.

That'd be awesome.

I've played arena, but not enough yet to have gone there.

This sort f thing would be awesome in Skyrim.. some sort of gruelingly large (but rewarding) labyrinth. I hope a large minotaur or something of that nature will chase you. That'd be so scary and exhilarating if you could hear heavy footsteps thundering towards your position while you're clambering through the maze to try and find the center. It certainly needs some horrific monster that will actively look for you.

It should be in the game. If it existed in the time of Arena, it should still exist in the time period Skyrim is set in. Of course enemies and loot should be different and there should be aesthetic changes but the dungeon itself should be similar to the original. I like the idea of some huge intelligent creature stalking you through the corridors (as suggested above by Hypno Toad) - that would add some real dread and tension to the scenario. :ermm:

Maybe Bethesda will release the dungeon as DLC if it was so popular with players of Arena?

Labyrinthian will be in game (map confirmed it) and it will be a cool place: a labyrinth made to test Shalidor's apprentices is bound to be cool.
Tough I also hope we get the Ice Fortress as well. It was Shalidor's home after all.

Haven't voted yet... still in fang lair...
and I don't want A LARGE MINOTAUR in it... I have lost many chars to groups of minotaurs in ARENA...

But it gotta be there... I'd be the same thing as if they'd removed Red Mt. from Vvardenfall... or if they made Cyrodil a "typichal mediaval landscape" WHICH THEY DID!!! :swear: :banghead: :flame:

there are hundreds of old mines and forts that have become monster homes: what about an old dungeon that people have reclaimed for their homes? Some have tried but they always forget about that nest of trolls on the third level. I haven't played arena, but if there are certain dungeons that are especially memorable, couldn't they return as a sort of town or something now? Your Arena hero did clear them out didn't he?

no, not labyrinthian at least, it'd be way better as a dungeon

Just because my hero cleared it out (hundreds of years before Elder Scrolls V) doesn't mean monsters wouldnt repopulate it

Yes, because I do so like to get lost in Minecraft.
Seriously though, I can't see any reason not to have it in game. It seems rather awesome.

Actually, Arena was about in 3e399, Daggerfall 3e417, Morrowind took place around 3e427 and Oblivion was 3e433.
All relatively close together. Those Tamriel people sure live in interesting times.

Skyrim will take place about 200 years after Oblivion, the longest gap between games so far.

I would love to see the labyrinthian.
I have some vague memory of it being on the Skyrim map that was in one of the early development vids, but that may be wishful thinking.

I guess it says Labyrinthian, but i don't think that really confirms it as a dungeon 100%.
