There were some issues in the earlier games that were considered by some players (including me) flaws or simply minor details that were a bit bugging. For example there were no kids, birds, house pets in Cyrodiil. Now that's actually just fine with me, the developers need to concentrate on what's essential. M'Aiq the Liar was a rather funny feature in the game that explained these small inconsistencies in the game. But the thing that bugged me the most was that in some cases the developers decided to explain the lack of some features by implementing the lack into the lore. For example, the fact that there were no mixed-race individuals was explained through the notion that the "child" always inherits the mothers race. And the transformation of Khajit feet between Morrowind and Oblivion was explained through the difference of khajit sub-races. I wasn't really bothered by the feet, but I'm much more bothered by lazy and clumsy explanations that tend to ruin an otherwise well designed and immersive gameworld.
But enough with the blabbering. The point of this topic was to challenge TES fans to create further explanations for some oddities in the realm of Mundus. The point of this thread is not to complain of course. On the contrary, the aim is to help Bethesda expand the lore so that every little flaw in the content is explained lorewise. Here are some questions to begin with:
Why can't there be found any beards in Cyrodiil at the end of the Third Era? Is the superstitious fear of Sheogorath so strong among Imperials?
Where are the children? Eaten by giant rats? The few fled to Hammerfell for some reason?
What happened to the ill-voiced Dunmer? A revolutionary cough-medicine created by Sinderion?
Why can't one fight horseback? Is mounted combat forbidden by the threat of capital punishment?
As you can see, I'm not so good at this, so I'll toss the ball to the next contestant.
