Can we please not get into a pissing contest about this? I mean, who cares?
For my part, I feel like there only need to be a few things to round out the weapon variety in Fallout 4. For pistols, I think a .45 pistol could serve as a stronger alternative to the 10mm, with higher crafting requirements. For Revolvers I'd like to see a more Wild West styled .38 revolver (or anything other than pipe guns to use the .38 ammo, plz) and "That Gun", the 5.56mm Pistol ripoff of Deckard's Gun. Not sure how they'd differentiate from the .44 Revolver in functionality though, although with the more common ammo they'll probably have to be weaker.
For rifles and shotguns, I feel like all that's "missing" are pump-action shotguns, which would be a nice bridge between the Double Shotgun and the Combat Shotgun. Although with the complaints about the .50 Sniper Rifle I think people are clamoring for a really hard-hitting Sniper, like the Anti-Materiel Rifle, to be what the current Sniper Rifle currently isn't. And then an Assault Rifle design everybody won't hate, of course. My personal request would be a pioneer/cowboy style carbine rifle.
Energy weapons are weird because right now the current weapons actually cover a lot. I'd love to see more "chargeable" weapons like the Gauss Rifle or Laser Musket, though, to live out all of my Mega Man fantasies. It would also be cool to see energy weapons based off of the original designs from Fallout 1&2, in full 3D. They could be more powerful, less versatile alternatives to the current models we have. And then there's the Tesla Cannon. What I wouldn't do to hold one of those babies over my shoulders again.
