LadyE`s Refined Minotaur Resource
-By TheHolyWraith And Saint_Jiub

Download: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=42027

Description:-
***************

This mod is a Creature Resource containing the files for a Minotaur which originally created by LadyE
has been retextured superbly by Saint_Jiub and forearm thickened by Brugdush with the mace replaced
by axe.It contains files for two creatures:-
One is a Minotaur wielding a Single Axe using Saint_Jiub`s textures and LadyE`s default Animations and,
Second a Minotaur wielding Two Axes(one on each hand) using new Attack,Hit and Death Animations
created by me and also uses Saint_Jiub`s textures.

Installation And Usage :-
****************************

To install copy the Data Files Folder into your Morrowind Directory.

For Usage:-
Inside the db folder in Meshes there are two main files:
1. db_cr_minotaur.nif is for the Single Axe wielding Minotaur.
2. db_cr_dualminotaur.nif is for the Dual Axe wielding Minotaur.

As this is intended to be a resource the creatures have not been placed ingame but i have provided a .esp
file which you can use to quickly test the creature ingame.

To test the creature first activate the Minotaurtest.esp provided using Morrowind Launcher.
Load any of your Save Game
When ingame open the console window using '~' button in your keyboard and write:

PlaceatPC,"minotaur",1,5,0
to bring the Single Axe wielding Minotaur in front of you.

Or

PlaceatPC."minotaur_dual",1,5,0
to bring the Dual Axe wielding Minotaur in front of you.

It is expected that if you want to use this creature in your mod you know the basics of creating the creature
using the .nif files provided with the mod in Game`s Construction Set else you can find some tutorials in
the net or ask for help at Bethesda`s Official Forums.

Credits:-
**********

Here is the list of people without whose help this mod hadn`t been possible or hadn`t been this good:

LadyE -The Original Creator of the first mod
Saint_Jiub- The Brilliant Texture for the Minotaur(You really Rock Man)
Archimaestro Antetres- For helping me out with the problem of my animations not working and Movement
Animations
Brugdush- For thickening the forearm portion of Original Mesh which made the Minotaur look good.

Permissions & Usage:-
***************************

This mod is intended to be a modder`s resource as you credit the people in Credits Section especially
LadyE and Saint_Jiub and if possible to me for the dual wield animations.

Thanks for trying out this mod:-

I am currently on a crappy old PC (doesnt even supports Morrowind`s Default Pixel Shading) so at present i cant provide the screenshots of how the creature looks on a Modern System so it would be very grateful if someone using MGE with some good shaders can provide me some screenshots of this Minotaur.

Look good, but to be a critic. I got to say. The minotaur seems to be lacking something. Like.. oomph or whatever. Just doesn't look as good as the first Minotaur that was shown in screenshots. :S His weist is really thin. Sorta reminds me of a Hour Glass or what not

I can edit the proportions more if people want, it's a piece of piss to do, I only fixed the most glaring issues.
I agree with the waist being too thick, there seems to be some bad UV seam across the legs too, I'll take another look later. Got anything else you want messing with?

Dunno but i think you meant to say "waist being too thin" if you meant you agree with me. Anywho's looking at more of the screenshots on the Nexus, i noticed he looks really polygonish. :S

For adding a minotaur to morrowind i gotta give you a 10/10. I can't model/animate dont know how.

But like i said being a critic about the actual quality of the model. Id give it like a 6/10. Can't rate the animations as i dont know how they look in game. I know the model is from a while back but putting this with the new morrowind graphics mods and stuff. it would look really out of place :S

Although those axes look pretty freaking good and scary. (more if it was wielding blood stained ones) ^^

Sounds good.

Well the only thing besides those fixes I'd love to see a better head. This one looks like a moose, nothing against LadyE's work, just being honest. The mouth and horns could need a rework.

Well done with the animations holywraith!

Well done with the animations holywraith!

Got a quirky idea for the head spent some time on it and here is what i got (meant to be taken lightly):
http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g416/TheHolyWraith/minotaurnew.jpg
Currently the new horn doesnt match well but with some retexturing it might go well as for the head mesh i cant do much but default one also looks good close what i have always seen a minotaur as (the oblivion ones look a bit odd as a minotaur):

I think that's an improvement.

I'm curious who is going to implement the creature, and where. I don't think it makes sense to see tons of these running all over Morrowind, but it would be nice as an end boss in some quest/dungeon.

Oops, yeah I was agreeing with you. :P
Sure I'll smooth the mesh out, and I've fixed some of the UV seams already.
Now people have said it, I want to do a new head now too. [censored], I wanted to finish this quickly, oh well. XD

Thanks for all the help you are providing the thickening of forearm you did really made the mesh look a lot better.
btw if you are thinking of redoing the head mesh i would recommend you try to use the Minotaur Champion`s Horn01 provided by Mr.Siika in his resource,I tried to modify the head with it making it use skin textures but it didnt go out well but if you can modify the whole head it might be of some use to you: http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g416/TheHolyWraith/minotaurnew.jpg

Not finished yet. It went from new head to what might as well be a remesh, because I'm an idiot. Made a new head, the UV needed changing so I redid it, smoothed it out, retextured. Texturing is still basic (sorry for getting rid of yours Jiub :\ Feel free to improve the texture again afterwards if you want), as is the model's topology and skinning, got to collapse edges and add others still yet.

Haven't been getting much time to work on it tbh, but I should be able to mess with it more tomorrow. Just posting to show I'm actually doing it.

Looks like a completely new model and i must say it will certainly look a lot better than the oblivion one once you complete that head portion to look more dangerous one.Keep up the good work man,btw if you want some piercings for the minotaur Mr siika`s mod has some but they use oblivion`s default textures.

Also,i had an idea but i am not sure about it,Is it possible to bump map the hairy regions to look more hairy sorts of??

I'm happy to redo the texture for it, but honestly I think yours looks great :) It's very cool looking.

You should add some flat planes around his neck and groin though, at least. That's what's really gonna make him look hairier. Bump mapping, I can take a look once it's released but initial impression is that it'll make him look too glossy.

Right, alpha planes are the way to go. I've got a quarter of the UV map left, and it's under 9000 tris, so they can be added.
About jewellery for it, no worries, if I think of anything I'll just make it, compared to heads and aligning alpha planes they're easy enough.

Oh yeah just the using alpa planes is a better idea. But didnt understand how the bump map could make it look glossy?

Also i had one more question:Will you keep both the mouth parts separated as they are in the current screenshot,i was thinking creating some animations for the mouth part and it will be easier to rig them if the mouth part will be separated.

Also can anyone recommend a single faced axe from default game coz the double faced one is only good as a single wield as it causes some clipping and inconvenience while creating new attack animations for dual wield.

Also wanted to give some information i missed in ReadMe that while setting up the creature in CS for damage values of Attacks.
Attack1 uses the animation of attacking with right hand axe.
Attack2 uses the animation of attacking with left handed axe.
while Attack3 uses the animation of attacking with both the axes.So for anyone using the resource in his mod:set the damages accordingly.

Return to III - Morrowind
