I bought Fallout: New Vegas with high hopes of playing it with no problems. I've played Fallout 3 on max settings and a bunch of texture mods and i never went below 45 fps. So I load of NV on ultra because that's what he game detected but when i got to play my fps was horrible. I thought it might be my rig so I put the settings on very low just to test it out. Almost no fps gain. Then I do research online and find a dxd9.dll on newvegasnexus.com and try that (ITS [censored] WHEN THE COMMUNITY HAS TO RELEASE THING TO MAKE THE GAME EVEN PLAYABLE!!!). It worked quite a bit but i still had some lag in stuttering. I wanted to know if there was anything i could do to increase the fps?? Other things I've tried- 1.) ~ToggleEmotions 2.) Running it in xp compatibility (SP3) 3.) Updating all of my drivers and directx 3.) Lowering the settings for water 4.) Changing the priority 5.) Ending all unneeded processes. I am just confused because I ran tons of other games but this game curbstomps my rig. Got any advice?

well the game loads at least 600mb on the video card memory and your what? 512? and it uses a lot of the cpu, which yours is more on the weaker side. Just wait for more patches Im using gtx285 and mine studders like a idiot but sits at 60fps the other half of the time

I might have a crappy pc and it might just be me, but there are people with $3,000 rigs chugging this game, and its mostly geforce. But what gets me really angry is this game is really new and 65 pages of Issues just on the pc? WHAT A JOKE. I mean just look at it this way, if people didn't use the dxd9.dll, how many pc gamers would be playing this game? 10%? Its almost unplayable without it and the game makers don't even care...

It's my opinion, although not supported by hard evidence, that far more gamers are playing FNV with the same OS and video cards, and not visiting the forum, than we have seen coming here, probably by a lvery arge margin.
