Lagging during initialization

Hey folks. Been following http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=first_run_guide and Blade of Mercy's http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1079933-50-steps-to-ctd-almost-free-fcom-game/page__p__15725164#entry15725164 guides.

I used BOSS. I turned the esm/esp's on one by one and had no problems loading the game until I made the bashed patch.

I made the patch and suddenly the game hangs indefinitely before I get to the main menu. I assume it would normally CTD but the crash protection keeps it hanging maybe.

I have OBSE 19b, Pluggy, Stutter remover, weOCPS, Wrye bash 290, Obmm extended 10.11.15, everything is installed via omod. I have no idea what the problem is. My next course of action is to slim my bash patch down, but I am not sure how effective that's going to be at narrowing down the culprit.

I honestly hope you can get it sorted out. Unfortunately, the way you've gone about it - someone else's guide notwithstanding - means you're wide open for this kind of result, basically.

Installing one or two things at a time, then testing, and repeating until you're done, is the best way to go. Not installing lots of stuff, then turning on ESPs/ESMs one by one, or whatever.

If it's too tangled, I suggest starting again from scratch, with a very different approach. Like, following the FCOM thread's instructions to the letter, and getting that working first (i.e., basic FCOM, with a bashed patch, as *required*, as in fact *stated* there).

Also, maybe try BAIN installation/configuration. A little more reading/learning *at first*, but wow, do you save yourself a lot of trouble later, inevitably. Like, say, your situation. Even if you'd managed to be here, using BAIN, you could very easily wind back as much as you wanted, without worrying about a thing. Very simple process, and you can see everything that's happeneing, in detail.

But hey, to each their own.

I tested after each mod. It's only the bashed patch that isn't working, and I tested that halfway through when TESPositive's guide said so (with FCOM mergeables). It has to be a problem with the merged or imported files.

I'm now going through and building the bashed patch from the last known working one and adding in the other merged files mod by mod. I was just hoping that someone could look over my list and see if there was anything obvious.

I tried to do this right, that's why I followed the most recommended guides. I don't think it's necessary to start over in this situation. Thanks for the advice.

Item Interchange should load directly before the BP.

Do you need to load both the COBLized Better Cities and the Full version?

Did you recently change your loading order, or add more mods? If so, did you go to your Saves tab in Wrye Bash, click your latest saved game, click the mods list on the right under File, and then click the Save button underneath?

Have you checked over the check marks in your BP? Is there anything you might have accidentally checked that refers to a mod you've removed? (Some references don't go away. I had this happen to me, once.)

I did the Item Interchange by BOSS's rules, but adjusting it hasn't affected it sadly. I think that I do need Better Cities COBL, that file is only 16 kb so it's just a patch. The load order isn't particularly the problem though, it's just the bashed patch and the merged files. Thanks for looking it over though.

So I have spent hours trying to isolate the problem in my bashed patch. I have isolated it to the Relations and Factions tabs. According to my guides, they were set up correctly, but this is certainly the only thing that causes my game not to load.

Originally I followed http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=bashed_patch for this section and checked everything except OOO esp and esm.

So I tried just AFK_Weye, Salmo the Baker, Alternate Start by Ship. And... nothin'.

If I don't build my patch with these 2 categories at all, it loads all fine. I am reading through all the documentation again to make sure I'm not missing anything, but... any advice?

I'm not a Wrye Bash maven, so my one good piece of advice is to post your problem, and especially the contents of your last comment, in the latest Wrye Bash thread on the first page. That's where the people hang out who have sparks shooting from their fingertips whenever WB is mentioned. And good luck!

Thanks fable2. I think it might be a memory problem with wrye bash actually, I noticed it would kick up memory errors. Weird cuz I have 12gb memory. So I'm gonna research this before I post again... it's so perplexing. Thank you for your reply. =)
