Landscape textures

Phase I - Landscape textures - of my new game is almost done.
It's based on Bomret's Normal Maps and HiRes Lanes, topped with Vibrant Textures.
On top of that I'm using QTP3R for all things relating to snow, ice and the Jerall Mountains, and Detailed Terrain.
And finally all of Ampol's Textures.

For Trees I'm using Mikal's Plants, Trees, and Fauna, RPG Black Dragon Trees and Enhanced Vegetation 100& and Darker Canopy Shadows.

For Grass I'm using Diverse Grasses and RPG Black Dragon Low Tri Poly Grass (small, no reduction).

For LOD I'm using PK's Landscape Lods and Xerus'. PK is more complete, but I think Xerus is slightly better. But maybe mixing is not a good idea?

For Water the only water I think look realistic is Enhanced Water, so that is an easy choice for me. And Water Refraction Blur makes the reflections look far better.

So all in all I'm very happy with how my game looks now, except for the snow and ice. The area north of Bruma and much of the Jerall Mountains feels more like it's a thing layer of hoarfrost then real snow. So the combination of snow covered trees and a http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/octavius243/Pingla%20Pinglason/ScreenShot104.jpg?t=1267907111 does http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/octavius243/Pingla%20Pinglason/ScreenShot105.jpg?t=1267907157. In real life trees don't stay snow covered for long.
Any suggestions on texture replacers to make it look more realistic?

I always thought Oblivion mountains and ice areas were poor. You might try a mod called Dall's Bruma which does redesign some of the ice and snow areas.

They do if the temperature stays below freezing.

Any suggestions on texture replacers to make it look more realistic?

Try [ul=http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22284]Evandar's Snow Texture Replacer. It's the only one I know of that touches snow/ice.

A combination of gravity and wind usually removes the snow from trees within a day. I've never in real life seen snow covered tress and bare ground, but lots of bare trees and snowy ground.

Try [ul=http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22284]Evandar's Snow Texture Replacer. It's the only one I know of that touches snow/ice.

Thanks, I'll try it out.

These are very good, especially the LODs are vastly much better than the other ones I've tried. Snow landscape looks very good too, but the snow covered roofs in Bruma was a pain behind the eyes. So I'm probably going to use parts of http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26625

Ohh shiny.

Gonna check that out.

related thought ... I like Bruma Architecture best - wonder if there is a modders resource to remove the snow off of the roofs so that the architecture could be used in southern regions.

I made a house mod with that architecture, but the roof looks so out of place.
