My Laptop is dx11 capable but won't play crysis 3

Post » Sun Mar 10, 2013 3:52 am

Hi,

My Laptop is dx11 capable but won't play crysis 3. I get the following error when I try to play the game 'you need a dx11 capable gpu to play crysis 3'. I've checked DXDIAG and it confirms I am running DX11. My laptop is an ASUS X54C running Windows 8 Pro. Is it my laptop or will there be a patch. I am running the latest graphics drivers. See pasted information below.

That is your SOFTWARE dx version, which just means you have windows 7

Hardware version is seen by part, and you have an integrated,so no crysis for you.Not even Super mario for you, that card won't play a single thing

You need to go into your nvidia control panel and force it to use your nvidia GPU. Try that and see. I also have a copy of the game on my laptop and it worked for me.

Well actually I think this guy could play some games, like Diablo 3, SimCity, and maybe even Bioshock Infinite when it comes out. I read something about them trying to have it running on integrated graphics.

But yeah bottomline is until graphics cards get way smaller, laptops aren't going give you full access to PC gaming.

It would be a nice idea if someone was able to make a external GPU for people like this who have a decent powered laptop. But that probably wont ever happen.

there has been one available for a few years now but dont think they will work with off the shelf laptops. they have to be custom built. its called a e-GPU
