Large Address Aware Enabler from FO3

Mmm k. So I tested this out on a work computer that had Windows 7 64bit. Funny thing is, I actually do have Windows Xp 64bit installed at home which runs my Oblivion. Anything I should know that would be beneficial to Win xp 64 using this or Oblivion Stutter Remover?

The short version is, if you are using LAA on a 64 bit windows with OSR heap replacement, then you can turn up iHeapSize (if you don't have LAA then turning up iHeapSize may cause Oblivion to refuse to start). And if the above applies and you are using specifically windows XP, and your Oblivion allocates enough stuff on the heap that it could benefit from LAA, then turning up iHeapSize isn't really optional, it's basically mandatory. The point at which you need a larger iHeapSize on XP will be really obvious, you'll play for a while at normal speeds and then Oblivion will suddenly have a dramatically slower FPS and start stuttering a lot.

So if I'm reading correctly... If I'm running WinXP 64bit with a heavy modded oblivion (memory intensive), than I could benefit from using LAA. BUT turning up iHeapsize in Oblivion Stutter Remover is mandatory if I want a stable game. I assume turning up iHeapsize would mean changing the value from 0 to anywhere between 1 and 5.

Currently before reading this thread, I'm running Oblivion on winxp 64 w/ 4gb ram. I have Oblivion Stutter Remover set for iHeapSize = 5 on what I would say is a moderate mod load. (115 active mods) I run pretty stable, about an hour or two before any crashing. I don't know if LLA is required or not in this instance, but I will give it a shot tonight once I am home to test.

You are thinking of iHeapAlgorithm or some other such setting, not iHeapSize.

iHeapSize is in units of megabytes. It defaults to 450. Increasing that to 800 is probably more than enough. It's only meaningful if iHeapAlgorithm is 5 or 3, and heap replacement is enabled. Other iHeapAlgorithms will adjust themselves automatically. But since iHeapAlgorithm defaults to 5, and large numbers of users turn on heap replacement, I presume that this applies to most (or at least many) people using 64 bit XP w/ LAA. If heap replacement is not enabled on XP then LAA is probably useless.

Doesn't matter whether your original copy is legal or not. A no-disk crack is always an illegal copy of the game, and no law or term of the EULA gives you the right to use one.

I'm closing this thread, and the moderators will review it for piracy. After pirates have been forced to walk the plank, we'll see about reopening for legitimate discussion of Oblivion with LAA.
