larger sandbox vs subsequent playthroughs variety?

what would you prefer if you had to choose for the franchise in general? (no, "both" is not a choice).

let us not even get started on the console VS PC thing either, let us assume we are talking about the next title coming out 3 years from now on the PS4 and Xbox 720 and let us assume that their specs are as rumors make them out to be so like 4 hardware cores cpu each divided in 4 logical cores and some 8 gigs of ram so that we do not get clogged up with bull**** blame games and finger pointing

OK?.....OK

now, would you prefer a larger Lingshang (or larger even...think FarCry3 or open world) or a series of smaller action bubbles (larger than crysis 2...imagine perhaps as large as some of the maps from halo 4 spartan ops with added content and complexity...I am talking size here not density) but with larger nanosuit and weapon customization to afford wildly different approaches and game play opportunities?

I like large levels so long as they are self-contained. Think Crysis 1/Warhead, HALO series.

I found some of the crysis 1 sandboxes to be a little spread out if you ask me...halo's action bubbles were definitely more focused
