Laser Musket Crank # Damage Question

Quick question regarding the laser musket damage. How does the number of cranks affect the damage on a laser musket? Is it 1 crank is x1 damage, 2 cranks x2 damage, 3 cranks x3 damage, ect ect up to 6 cranks? Also is it x1, x2, x3, ect ect of the base damage listed in the weapon info, in the pipboy?

Great question. I notice a distinct difference between 1 and 4 cranks. But I'm not sure if it *feels* like 4x damage.

I'm pretty sure the number of cranks is the number of shots you get before having to crank it again.

If you crank it four times, that one shot does 4x damage. You crank it 6x, I assume 6x the damage on that one shot... you only get multiple shots in VATS and even then it still cranks 1 shot per shot.

Yea i have def noticed a big difference as well, but without damage numbers coming up idk what the difference really is.

If I knew the console commands to spawn an enemy, set his HP to a fixed value, and check current HP, I'd do some tests.

Look at the cranks in the weapons bench , use the damage values for each one for the corresponding number of cranks you use works for everything but 1 crank which I do not know but it seems to be half of 2 cranks.

Just did some research, and found the console commands I needed. I spawned a Deathclaw, as I don't know the commands needed to spawn something else. I then used a Focused Five-Crank Laser Musket with a listed damage of 32, cranked the weapon, and fired. Repeated for each number of cranks. Damage numbers as far as actual damage taken were as follows:

1 crank - 8.4 damage
2 Cranks - 19.47 damage
3 Cranks - 33.87 damage
4 Cranks - 50.16 damage
5 Cranks - 68.03 damage

The first one tells me that a Deathclaw has a lot of damage resistance versus Energy Weapons, but the rest of the numbers are far higher than expected. I would have expected about 30 damage from 5 cranks, but instead I got 68. I'm not going to try to fit the numbers into some sort of formula, but the numbers are here if you want them.

Thanks swk3000! Def more info than i was expecting. How did u get the actual damage amounts from each shot? That is quite higher than i was expecting for the 5 crank. Just going off those numbers its like x8 damage compared to 1 crank.

I just recently switched to using a 6 crank laser musket over my modded gauss rifle, so thats what has sparked my curiosity regarding this. I def have noticed that enemies that would take 2 or 3 shots with the gauss rifle r 1 hit KOs with the 6 crank. I am playing on hard currently n the gauss is listed at 322 per shot for me i believe, so just another data point as well.

Console. I shot the Deathclaw, then pulled up the console and typed in "getav health" while the Deathclaw was the targeted "object".

Great to know. Def a whole bunch of console commands i am not familar with yet. I will have to give that a look as well when i get a chance and see what kind of multiplier i can get with a 6 crank musket. Also the one i have does additional freezing damage. I wonder if that damage is static or if that multiples as well.
