With all modifications equipped, which one is better?

Rate with both your personal opinion and statistics.

Well definitly the fully modded GRA Tri-beam laser rifle obviously, it beats out the normal tri-beam by miles and makes the fully modded laser rifle look like a bb gun :flamethrower:

A SAC (sneak attack critical) headshot with a bunch of applicable lasery type perks and MC ammo against 0DR/DT:

Laser rifle = 1463 dam (all beams hit)
Tri-beam = 1684 dam (all beams hit)

DPS adjusted for critical chance and reload time with the above conditions:

Laser rifle = 1764 DPS (all beams hit)
Tri-beam = 2012 DPS (all beams hit)

DPV (damage per round of VATS, 95 AP) with the above conditions:

Laser rifle = 1417 dam (all beams hit)
Tri-beam = 2260 dam (all beams hit)

Pretty one sided. Laser rifle does have a scope, so I prefer that.

with the lazer rifle scope you could crit. kill just about anything. Thats only 1 bullet per shot while the tri beam lazer takes 3.I like them both but prefer the lazer rifle.

The Tri-beam Rifle looks stubby to me, I don't like stubby weapons.

It's like comparing a hunting rifle with a shotgun. One is for mid-range sniping, the other for close quarters.

Wouldn't the laser rifle have an advantage against DT?
D vs DT rather than D/3 vs DT?
Or does it not work like that?

I'd say without looking at stats for them that the Tri-Beam would be the top dog since it is a shotgun laser ! :D

I like how the Laser Rifle only uses one MFC, while the Tri-Beam takes 3.

I'd go with the Laser Rifle.

Scope vs no sights, even at medium range the scope is useful because of the high rate of fire.
1 MF cell vs 3 MF cells is a huge difference.
And on a personal note aesthetics, modded Laser Rifle looks like the perfect Laser Commander weapon.

With all related perks and optimized or better ammo they can both punch through any DT present in the game (I think).

Main reason I don't like the tri-beam is due to the lack of sights.

The Tri-Beam has a higher base damage and few foes have enough DT to block the shots if you're using MC cells, so the D vs D/3 difference isn't as profound as you might think. That does depend on range to target, though, since the longer the distance the higher the chance that the separate beams from the Tri-Beam will miss, due to greater spread.

It's something of a futile comparison anyway, since the two weapons aren't meant to be used in the same way. The Tri-Beam is very much an EW shotgun, and should be used accordingly, while the Laser Rifle is meant for longer ranges, to include sniping if you have the scope.
