[size="3"]Last Chance

Two years. Two years ago I was sent into the Canadian time capsole industry where I was held against my will by the Americans and placed inside of a time capsole which froze me and kept me hidden from sight. A few days ago, the heat of the wastes beat down on the train that had once been transporting me to a research facility in New Mexico was amplified to the point where the thick ice weilding me immobile was melted. When I climbed out, I threw the train door open to see that the only freedom I'd get was in the wastes. I slammed the door shut in my disbelief and looked around for supplies. It seemed there had been a guard or officer of some sort, because there was a skeleton with an R-91 Assault rifle beside it. I grabbed the weapon and the few clips nearby and found a locker with some medical supplies. Lucky me.

Today, I'm part of New Canada, a group of Canadians bent on rebuilding Canada with something called a G.E.C.K. which the American company Vault-Tec made to restore acres of greenery and healthy water to even the most desolate landscape. They say they found some computer that said that Vault 38 had one and it was pretty close to the border. They didn't issue any GECKs to the Vaults in Canada because they feared that if America survived, Canada would rebuild and attack. We are supposed to leave Manitoba soon, and thank god too, the radiation is lesser where the Vault is, and the mutated geese are horrifying...

We ran into a few mercs who spoke french. I'm not surprised but I'm glad Pierre is with us, otherwise, every one of us would think they wanted to shoot us. We told them what we were doing and they called us crazy. They went on, but hey, it's not gonna hurt to try. We're setting up camp for tonight inside a condo in Winnipeg, haven't seen any irradiated or mutated animals, hope they don't come out at night.

Wednesday morning, December 13, 2078
Damn, we got attacked at night, should've known better...Pierre's dead(now we shoot french people on sight I guess), Tom's dead (Was he the guy with the braided beard?), and we lost our watchdog...we fled to closer to Ontario, I think I can see the border.

Rick says I should stop writing in this damn diary, but I think it'll be a good souvineer if the GECK works and I've got a family or a girlfriend. Anyways, I won't be writing for a few days because we've got a lot of work to do. Also, one more thing, since I just realized that whoever's reading this doesn't know who's with me, thought I'd jot it down.

Rick-kinda the leader I guess, he did find most of the survivors.

Tom- well, he died but, he was the owner of the wathdog I mentioned earlier.

Pierre- the leader of a bunch of french guys from Quebec who died from radiation, they didn't even know that Quebec got hit, went swimming...

Troll- real big guy from saskatchewan(at least I think...) who carries a hammer he says is a family heirloom from his great, great(I don't know how many greats he said...), uncle who was a blacksmith. Not too sharp though, don't put him on watch duty, he'll fall asleep!

Bing- some guy who has this disorder where he yells things out randomly, most of the time he says bing, and he can't remember much except for he had a wife and his house was in the mountains. Strange man if you ask me. Good marksman though, great with pistols or rifles.

Bill- Bing's "brother". Bing says he has no idea who he is. Bill says he isn't leaving his brother's side. Great guy to talk with. We both got a lot in common, hell we even like the same beer!(note:remind him to get a HAIRCUT!)

We got to the Vault, but we can't open the door without the password. Bill says he used to work for Vault-Tec Canada and knows how to find the password, something like the alphabet twice, the number of the vault...I don't know. Heard Rick saying something about how the Overseer can change the password. Hope the guy decided not to...

Sunday, December 24, 2078
Found the password and it worked perfectly. There were 3 people inside, they said most of the people left after the water chip broke, but the technician stayed and after he found out it wasn't broken... ouch. There was this woman I saw, can't forget her, get her out of my head. I only saw her face, but she seems like the only thing I can think of...I need to stop, people have died in the wasteland before because of that...we asked them about the GECK and they knew they had it, they didn't know what it did. Staying here overnight.

Monday, December 25, 2078
Those pip-boy the people have are incredible. How do they automatically know when theres radiation in food or water, without taking samples? How are they so durable? The Vault people don't know anything about the wastes but we help them, they let use use their spare pips. Win win situation.

Tuesday, December 26, 2078
Me and the other "techies" were working with the GECK and realized that...The GECK is glitched up and the terraforming isn't contained like on regular ones. The only way you can activate the it is to get someone to sacrafice themselves...the terraforming would instantly rip them to peices. We're going to think on it overnight, if someone sacrifices themselves, we'll all be thankful, but if not, what will we do? Force them?

Thursday, December 28, 2078
We're almost at the "location" that Rick and his original crew had picked in Ontario to use the GECK. Bing is gonna do it. Everyone is shocked, I mean, yes he's strange and all but to do something of that level...Bill is pretty emotional right now, I'm gonna go see if I can catch him before we sleep, try to cheer him up.

Friday, December 29, 2078
The days are blurring together, I barely know what's happening, I saw her again, I didn't notice her the past few days but I saw her today. I don't even know yet if she's noticed me...

Sunday, December 31, 2078
Today is Christmas day, woohoo... I would've been spending the day with my family...Oh yes my family, being frozen made me forget but the sun, the sun made me remember them...

Monday, February 1, 2078
Everyone actually made each other gifts! We all knew it was Christmas yesterday and we all thought a little bit of Christmas would help. I got a scoped and silenced lever-action rifle (don't know what kind...) and Rick got chocolates (a whole box...). Bing got a good luck charm and Bill, well, Bing told him that the night before he remembered what it was like before the war and everything they did together. Bill was so glad and I felt glad for him. At least now Bing won't die without Bill having him remember.

Monday night...
We're here... This is it. Moment of truth as some used to say. Hamilton...I was born here. My sister, my parents, going to school, I knew most of it but the rest came rushing back. Bing's got til tommorrow, I should call him Fred, his name isn't Bing...

Tuesday morning!
I'm happy, but also sad, we just witnessed Fred being ripped to shreds until nothing was left. Suddenly, green grass flooded from the geck and a small explosion took place, we were knocked out cold. When we got up, There was green grass EVERYWHERE. Trees sprouting, even the ponds were clean enough to drink. This was better than our memories of Canada before the war. No cement or brick, just sprawling green grass. Next, there were ANIMALS running freely! Bill wasn't awake yet to see Fred die.

Tuesday night-
Everyone is sleeping except for me and Bill. Bill was an all-around wilderness guru and he was great when we were picking berries and going through the foilage. And I was hunting deer most of the time, the rifle was real handy. The others were cutting trees, filling bottles, clearing debris, and many other things. We got a lot of work to do.

Friday, December 5, 2078
Today is officially the first day of New Ontario. We got a few people who came in when they noticed greenery. They helped us clear more debris. So far, we got a Town Hall, a Diner, a Convenience store, a Coffee Shop, and 3 motels cleared and repaired. Troll is the guy who does most of the lifting, clearing, and moving of debris while me and the others build, fix, and hunt. Most of us agree that we need currency or any type of civilized trade, but I think that trading is better, we have nothing to turn into currency yet, nor can we detect fraud.

Been working non-stop... It's getting to everyone, but at least when we finish we'll have a great society and town. Saw her again, we spoke a little on our break. She said her name's Sara and she's something like 21, she actually wasn't from the Vault, but she was a criminal before the war because she was starving, and after she saw all the money she had, she couldn't stop. When the war came she said she saw it as a sign to renew her life. While she was wandering, she almost died of radiation. The Vault took her in and saved her because it was almost empty.

Tuesday, February 9, 2078
Yes! After almost 5 days of work we fixed up an apartment building! It's not too great, but it's something! I spoke with Sara again. We're going to the restaurant next to the apartment. In other news (I don't know what to say alright?), we took in another 6 refugees. (We made sure they had no guns) They seemed trustworthy enough and they also told us that down south they use bottle caps as currency. Man, three years ago I collected them and now I actually have a use for them.

Wednesday, January 10, 2078
Man, I just noticed today I've been putting February instead of January. Talk about FAIL. Last night was sick (I mean awesome not that everyone was sick...), me and Sarah were so close to doing... you know. Anyways, we were cleaning out a hospital and we found some supplies. Note:Getting low on rounds, remind Jim to give me some.

Saturday, January 13, 2078
Man, theres so many people here now, and things are getting done twice as fast and everyone gets 2 hour breaks! We established a currency, it's really basic, but hey. They're a bunch of metal cards that have a number carved in them, the number is the amount it's worth. Kinda hard since we have to do some more work before we can release it, but it works. Oh, right. Me and Sarah are getting an apartment on the 3rd floor of the building we cleared. Pretty neat because it was almost packed with reservations, but I got in because I was one of the founders.

Thursday, I don't know, need to check calendar.
Days are blurring together and I barely have any time to write. How long has it been since we started? A month? Two months? Three? I don't know but me and Sara are happily married and that's what counts, right? We're about to move out to a house near the Town Hall, there's some great houses reserved for the founders apparently...

Monday, March 12, 2078
I'm the Captain of the Militia in Town and I'm pretty confident. Sarah and I moved in yesterday and I just transferred this onto my new Pipboy 4000. Oh right, the Pipboy 4000 is sick, it's build from plans of a prototype and it's like a watch, but it monitors your health status, your radiation level, and can ever hold video, text, audio, and pictures (Ask Rick for a manual, need to figure out how to use camera...)

Tuesday, March 13, 2078
When I went to see Rick about the camera, he told me there were men with helicopters and power armour...if they're friendly, maybe they'll share with us. Ha ha ha...

Wednesday, March 14, 2078
Damn, I got shot in the shoulder by something, my men are holding them off. My Pip's internet database tells me that these guys are the Enclave. They formed right before the war and somehow they must've survived. There's no way we're going to let the Americans take what we've worked so hard on.

Thursday
We made contact with some group called the Brotherhood of Steel, they told us that they're a splinter of the military so we cut the communications. Don't want to risk more Americans trying to take this land for themselves.
