My 2 last perks: which of the following should I take ?

Hi all,

I am a lvl 26 guns snipers. My support weapon is the riot shotgun. I also use explosives a bit: I always carry 2 grenades just in case (currently maxing explosives with remaining skill points). So I have 2 perks to choose. I don't use VATS much, so I didn't include VATS perks. Here are the perks I am thinking about:

Toughness: possible 2 ranks. +3 DT per rank.
Rad Absorption
Lady killer
Jury Rigging
Robotics Expert
Demolition expert (+20% dmg explosives)
Splash damage (+25% larger area of effect for explosives)

So, which 2 should I take ?

My current perks are:

Confirmed bachelor
Educated
Comprehension
Entomologist
Strong Back
Finesse
Silent Running
Better Criticals
Weapon Handling
Rapid Reload
Shotgun Surgeon
Living Anatomy
Hand loader

I'd take Jury Rigging and 2xToughness.

Jury rigging is a good perk in general, and makes a decent filler.

Myself none of the others are my favourites apart from lady killer.
If I were to make the role however the explosives ones would be my second choice, though most likely hit the deck for the sniper going prone.

Jury Rigging is awesome. You'll be able to repair your AMR with a BB Gun or a Varmint rifle, Power Armor with Metal armor, etc. You can also earn caps by repairing stuff.

By the way, why not take Pack Rat? It saves surprisingly a lot of weight.

Jury rigging. I would suggest the explosive perks when they patch them, but right now rad absorbtion.

Toughness would probably be the best out of these, as more threshold means less damage. Rad Absorption is kinda lame, as there are only a few radiation areas and something like the Space Suit would help out. Lady Killer has a few uses, but not enough to warrant a slot for a perk (IMO). Robotics Expert is not worth it at the moment, as there are very few robots as enemies (it may come in useful later depending on DLC) (Side Note: you can use this to kill Festus for lulz). Demolition Expert and Splash Damage would be good for an Explosives user (which I guess is true four your current character if you have access to these). Demo can give extra punch, and Splash can make the punch bigger, so that's a toss up.

From your choices and what you wrote about your character I suggest either toughness or one for your explosives. The explosives perk will depend on whether you want more damage or bigger area of effect - your play style.

+1 on this. Jury Rigging can make huge profits, you can find a broken 10mm and repair it with a .22 pistol for a massive profit.

Also Pack Rat does make a huge amount of difference if you carry lots of little stuff around. Its nice to be able to carry twice as many Nuka Colas, scrap metals, etc. Oh and if you're playing hardcoe it makes it where you can carry twice as much ammo and 12.7mm ammo becomes weightless.

Yup, on hardcoe runs it's a fantastically nifty little perk. The weight difference is quite surprising...

I've found it very useful even on non-hardcoe. When exploring some area, you accumulate so many Weapon Repair Kits components, Sunset Sarsaparillas and other low-weight stuff that having their weight reduced by half becomes significant.

Rat pack requires 70 barter: impossible to get that from where I am. I already have strong back and I am satisfied with that for the weight. With the all new jury rigging, I'll bring back less stuff, but more repaired, for a higher value.

About rad absorption: is there a place where it's really that useful ? I went to Vault 34 and had to take a load of anti-rad stuff, but is there something worse than that in FNV ?

Thoughness seems sixy now that people talk about it, since explosives are only for occasionnal use in my case (only carry 2 grenades). However, I might use more explosives in the future. In any case, a few guys mentionned that explosives perks are not good in this patch.

Apart from 34 which is more rad heavy due to the lay out.

Camp searchlight is very rad heavy, the nuclear test site, the area north of bittersprings, the area south east of Primm, the area south of Mojave outpost.
Those and the bunker under Fortifaction hill in caesars camp will all have heavy rads.
They are not that much of a pain though, if you buy rad away, rad X and have a radiation suit.

Toughness is by far more of a usefull perk in general.
