Last TES-game?

Ah, thanks. You guys have some good arguments for why the series will probably continue. That is a consolation. :)

A game spanning all of Tamriel with the quality of Bethesda's two more recent Elder Scrolls games doesn't seem possible, to me.

I'm sure people at 1985 would have also thought that it wouldn't be possible to run a game at 1920x1080, plus AF 16x and a real-time 16x Anti Aliasing filtering...

I don't see any logic behind Bethesda axing one of the most popular and critically acclaimed series of all time. Like Seti, I personally think lots of the engine and gameplay overhauls in Skyrim are actually paving the way for the new "third generation" of TES games. Now how exactly you make a plot for TES VI that's more epic than a fight against Alduin, who knows. But hey, Guild Wars: Nightfall had you fight a god and then they still managed to do something for Eye of the North.

There could always be a plot involving the return of Lorkhan/Shezarr/Shor. :chaos:

A new villain has arisen in Tamriel. Turns out to be your evil twin. You meet him/her at the end of the game, when you're level 35 or something. Should be an epic battle! :flamethrower:

(by the way, is there a mod somewhere for Oblivion/Morrowind that let's you fight yourself?)

That also makes perfect sense why you are the dragon born and why the civil war is happening.

Anybody think that in Elder Scrolls:VI you might be the king?

Technological progress is irrelevant to people having to manually create content. Bethesda's current team of 90 people is fleshing out what is likely to be the single province of Skyrim and Skyrim alone in about 3 years of development. To create all of Tamriel with such a precise amount of detail would take far too long. It's not possible in a reasonable development period. When Bethesda's development team swells to 400-500 people, let me know. Even then, though, would you expect Bethesda to sell such a massive game at the standard price of a game? They're a business, and they're already being far more generous than most game companies.

Nothing indicates that the world is going to end at the end of Skyrim. Even then Lore has outs already in place. Just have another Dragon Break :goodjob:

Seems to me like they could still do a lot more.
Political boundary changes and other provinces wanting to take over for example.

Well, but it CAN be done, isn't it? What were you saying is that you though it wasn't possible... :)

P.D: Hire modders. Or ask for volunteers in the community. I'm sure more than one would gladly do a province or two.

No, I didn't think the world was going to end. I was thinking more in the lines of a summary of the other game stories, and thus a possible conclusion.

It's not possible unless ZeniMax Media, Bethesda Game Studios, and Bethesda Softworks become a highly devoted religious order of charity supporters that are much, much larger then they are now, then.

They have hired modders. They give them pay and a job like anyone else. If you mean ask modders to do this kind of stuff for free, no... just no.

Nope.

However it might be the last single player TES game for a long time (I know that's not a popular opinion but it seems realistic)

Betehsda Softworks will continue making Single Player TES games.
Zenimax Online are the ones who are making Multiplayer TES games.

I remember that being announced a long time ago.

No, Bethesda Game Studios will continue making single-player games of some kind, ZeniMax Online will be making multiplayer games of some kind, and Bethesda Softworks will likely publish both.

Not quite. The degree to which you can (-get away with and want to) automate content generation, is in large part a function of available technology.

Since the plot of Skyrim is including and sort of summing up the stories from the previous TES-games, could this be a sign of this being a conclusion to the TES-saga overall? The last TES-game? I hope not, it was just a thought a friend of mine had, so I thought I'd ask here what you guys think.

Most certainly not. Every TES game has included information about a previous game. It's not saying that all the things that happened in this game caused the return of the dragons, it said that the Elder Scrolls said it would happen after those events. The Elder Scrolls are magical, prophetic scrolls that tell the future and past. The Elders Scrolls just foretold that they would return after those events. The Elder Scrolls are beautiful things.

Nope.

It should go through each land.

Black Marsh

Elyswer (spelling?)

Valenwood

Summerset Isles

Then (drumroll)

The Elder Scrolls: Tamriel
Its basically a giant ass game that brings the whole thing for a recap.

The last one is just a guess.

The last TES game will be the one where sales are so lackluster that they do not justify making another.

This is obviously the answer. The developer may change, the publisher may change, the team may change, but as long as it is profitable, someone will make more.

I think Skyrim (not including the inevitable expansion) will be the last TES game for this generation. But, like many have said, the TES series is far too profitable to abandon.

This means nothing. All the same events from previous games led up to the events of Oblivion, and allowed that to happen. Its just how they continue and tie the plots of each game together. Nothing new, and it doesn't mean this will be the end of it.

Also, we would already know if this was the Last TES game. They would market that quite a bit to get as many people to buy it as possible. When they make the last one, if they ever do, they will let us know very early.

Personally I think they will make an MMO after this. MMOs are the future and a big cash cow at the moment.

If I was 16 years old and had the time I had back then I would love an Elder scrolls MMO. Imagine being able to travel throughout all of Tamriel? Would be badass.

However I'm 23 and about do to a Masters degree in strength and Conditioning and then a 2 year internship so Ive only got time for single player games unfortunately.

I doubt it is the last one, sales are great for the series and it has name recognition which makes a lot of sales by itself.
