Last TES game?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:38 am

I have been looking through the lore on The Elder Scrolls games http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page, and when I go to the timeline I realise all the previous games have occurred in the 3rd Era.(Oblivion carries on just into the fourth Era) As I went to check out the foruth Era I noticed that there was no more history after a mention of the civil war in Skyrim (TES V), the history just fades away. Does Bethesda, when they come out with a new TES, write the history up to that point or is it possible that this coulc be the last TES game ever?

Bethesda has never written lore for the future and that's because most all lore comes from sources within the games themselves.

Don't worry. The UESP's not a very reliable source of Lore info, your better off at the Imperial Library.
Anyways, they'll write new history as we go, and even if Alduin does suceed, the cycle will just repeat itself and a new Nirn will be crapped out.

Ugh. People thought Oblivion was the last TES game for some nonsense reason. Of course Skyrim will not be the last TES game.

Indeed. And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_Adventures:_Redguard took place in the 2nd era, not the 3rd.

TES games will continue to be made and the future timeline will continue to expand as long there are money to get from it :P

Thank god for that, don't know what I would do without TES!

I don't rate the 'adventures' as real TES games

The games create the lore.

So the next game will be a continuation of the history with them creating the new lore for the game.

Are people really thinking this? I have better words to describe it but I dont want to get warned or banned.

TES is the flagship of Bethesda. Why would Bethesda sink their flagship?

Yes, then they will be bought by EA and release one Fallout a year.

Of course not.

This is getting scary, I had a dream almost exactly like that. Beth was bought out by EA and they released linear shooters that they slapped a "Fallout" title on to, once every year. Man, was I glad to wake up from that...

I don't think it will be their last. While some game series get very stale after the 4th implementation, I think each TES game changes enough to keep it exciting, while still being a TES game. I hope they do a few more. For some reason it feel's right to me if they were to end on the 7th game. Not sure why... But honestly, I say as long as each new one they make is good, keep making them.

We already know that won't happen, ZeniMax is looking to be the next big thing in the gaming industry and it's acquisition of studios and high profile talent clearly show that they are forming an effective base. They have Todd Howard, Shinji Mikami, and John Carmack not to mention the former star breeze guys and plenty of other well known and talented people. Launching Haunted, Brink, Rage, and Elder Scrolls in the same year is a huge milestone for ZeniMax as a heavy weight. They're also backed by some serious investors, the CEO has some insane connections and even a google search can point that out.

Back on topic, this game will not be the Last TES game until the team get's tired of making it or they don't make enough money to warrant another one in the series and if the team get's tired they'll just let another studio handle it.

What a silly assumption. As long as TES is financially succesful it's cristal clear that Profit > Lore....

I don't think Bethesda is ready too sink their flagship just yet. And I think those who create the ES games love them too much too stop now.

Jeez, its called being creative with plot people. They did not plan to have a giant black dragon of time to come down and eat Skyrim on 11-11-11 back when they released Arena. Just because they are creative enough to tie all the previous plots together, that by no means makes this the last one. It means one era is finally coming to and end and a new one is beginning.

TES is the flagship of Bethesda. Why would Bethesda sink their flagship?

Because Bethesda is really owned by Peter Molyneux :P

They will continue onwards. I like how people think "This will be the end because they haven't done anything after it!" Of course they haven't! Why would they have a huge timeline of events for us, and pick stuff that we already know about? People complain about Spoilers for a reason. There may be a story here or there that we knew something about but we never get the whole story beforehand.

As long as Bethesda is making Zenimax lots of money, they won't be selling their cash cow to EA.

No, the fourth era began after you finished the main quest.

naw there are many elder scrolls left with prophecies that still remain its just that nobody understands there meaning. how can one truely interpret a scroll that holds knowledge yet to be known? if anyone did understand the scrolls many events would have been avoided like the fall of the septim dynasty and the invasion of the daedric lord of destruction mehrunes dagon

Especially not as ZeniMax IS Bethesda. Or founded by Bethesda, in any case, so that they could gather other developers under their umbrella like ID Software, Arkane Studios and Machinegames. No, I am pretty certain, (and pray to all things holy and unholy) that this is one company EA will never sink their clutches in.
