What's interesting about flight from the thalmor is how the author states boldly that many of lathenils claims are bordering on madness. I read that and thought well then, it probably isn't then. My stance: a classical example of Tes to make statements in booklore just to contradict it. Was lathenil mad?or was the imperial scholar widely saying he was to avoid possible retribution from the thalmor?

Lantheil was so utterly opposed to the Thalmor he became a conspiracy theorist who saw a Thalmor behind every tree.

That doesn't mean there's no Thalmor behind any trees. Or most of the trees, for that matter.

He was there when the crystal tower fell by the daedra. He said he wanted to believe the thalmor were the true victors. I think he knew just what they were made of. The fact that he had ocatos ear and interest is most intriguing. Ocato was no fool, neither was Titus Mede or the penitus ocular us. Remember Colin from the infernal city revealed the oculatus taught that the thalmor were the true enemies of tamriel.imperial propaganda. I think when people say that they're just bonkers. I do think the thalmor are connected in subtle ways to the weird happenings of the 4th era. These mer were able to stalemate with the empire at white gold tower and ban Talos. We can debate till sovngarde takes us how the empire was weakened and crumbling. Which it was. However the empire was not weak.titus Mede was a great leader, so was attrebus. No one but a crazy emperor palpatine thalmor faction could bring the empire to its knees.

I say all this because If I wrote flight from the thalmor I would probably flake out and say that the postmortem lathenil was just a kook. Why?because if I write that lathenil was genuine, my ship will mysteriously sink. Or my trophy Minotaur wall bust will just happen to fall on me while I'm sitting in my favorite chair.
