Okay, so, I'll make this quick. I originally thought it had to do with me fixing it every time I start the game. (From restarting my PC, to setting it to run in compatibility mode, to verifying the game cache), I thought my fixes had to do with the fact it eventually launched.
But now I don't think that's the case.
- I launch the game from Steam
- I click 'play'
- It begins to start, then closes without any form of error message
The above repeats a dozen times. It eventually launches and runs just fine. But not after hours have been spent re-launching it.
It's definitely a software issue, because if it was hardware, it wouldn't launch at all or ever. (It runs just fine, once I get it launched.)
EDIT: It won't launch at all now.
EDIT: It launched now. But it took 4 hours to fix now.
EDIT: Today, I got it to launch on my second try. I went through a small process to get it to work. It may just be a fluke, I have not tested it, but I can guarantee you it's almost NEVER launched on the second try, so this process must be worth something.
- Restart(or start for the first time in a day) your PC.
- In your Documents/MyGames/Fallout4 folder, delete Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Prefs.Ini, and Fallout4Custom.ini
- Start Steam
- Right click on Fallout 4, properties, local files, and verify the integrity of game cache.
- Start the game once that finishes.
Once again, not a proven work-around, as I've only tried it once and it worked once, but even if it is a good work-around, it might still require a few tries to start the game. So keep that in mind.
