Layered Armour with S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:24 am

We've only seen the protagonist wearing the Vault 111 jumpsuit when they have shown 'base' armour via the pip boy. (along with the layered armour on top of it)

Knowing that there will be other base armour available (shown during the let's [censored] some [censored] up video)... do you think those other 'base' armours will have S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses similar to those that are in Fallout Shelter?

If so, how do you think this will affect the perk chart and your ability to select perks when levelling up?

If its a special stat on gear it will not change what perks you can select when leveling. That situation was covered in fallout 3/nv. All they do is count your natural stats for perk selection, not buffed ones. Otherwise, chewing mentats and buffout when you level would be a good idea. :bunny:

I doubt temporary buffs from clothing/armour items would change what perks you qualify for. You didn't get extra skill points on Fallout 3 if you happened to be on Mentats when you leveled up, nor did buffs count towards prerequisites for perks.

Edit: Ninjas be all up in here. :ninja:

Being each piece of armor is separate, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of bonus for wearing a whole set.

Good thought... but I was referring to the base armour not the layered armour.

If that WERE the case, it would alleviate one main concern I had ---- I wanted a high Charisma for all the dialog options it may unlock, but I want virtually none of the perks associated with Charisma. If I can get armor pieces that augment my Charisma and hence allow me more dialog options, I do not care that I cannot pick high-CHA perks at all.

That would be -excellent-. Deck myself out in a sixy dress, shoes, shades, necklace, rings, etc and not have to worry about CHA perks (except, perhaps, low-CHA perks like Black Widow).

Has there been anything suggesting that we will be able to layer things like a coat with armor (like an overcoat over combat armor)? ...instead of having the choose between armor and a coat.

A trench coat over the 'layered' armour would be pretty nice. It would kind of ruin it to have padding holding it down.

Guess we will find out.

since we dont have skills i think the bonuses will be either speical attributes when they have secondary stats or directly some bonuses like +5% damage or +5% accuracy

I can see the base clothing offer SPECIAL bonuses, but they wouldn't let us stack on bonuses with the layered armor system. I'll love it if that red dress boosts our Charisma, and players wear it with their male character just for the buff.

Base armor is basically clothing, right? And the actual armor goes on top of the clothing in pieces?

Or possibly under, assuming things like coats class as clothing (which I kinda assume, unless they shoehorn in a small armour value to justify calling it armour)
