Laying siege

Post » Mon Jan 04, 2010 1:05 am

I found this quote.
"If you hang around you can watch the guy put the log through the mechanism. You can also sabotage the mill, which takes wood out of the local economy and makes arrows harder to come by. Howard says Bethesda is playing around with variables for this kind of behavior. "

I would how much further this sabotage can go? What are some other things you think you could do? Sabotage the blacksmith? Make steal and iron products hard to come by. Sabotage food production? And starve a city out?

What do you think?

I think they're playing around with this kind of behaviour and that we just have to wait and see. I like very much what I've heard so far.

I personally don't think we'd be able to starve a city out. There wouldn't be any relatives left to take over the quests from the now dead quest-givers :(
The whole family would be wiped out and would be far too intrusive in general as well!

I hope the stuff that Howaard says doesn't turn into shell we say.. vaporware. I mean you know the saying "Well you should of heard about it BEFORE it was dumbed down!" lol.

Anyway, I doubt we can lay siege. If we could I am sure we would of heard by now about such a large feature.

Todd said they're still looking for the "sweetspot". I don't think it'll be too extreme.

Even if they only put the mechanics in there. That will allow a modder to finish the Siege Mod!!!
You line it up with a quest, have different stages where the town widdles away... then siege away!!!!

Woodcutter - Sabotage the sawmill - deprive economy of wood
Food Merchant - Scare away the local herd of cows or whatnot - Shortage of food
Blacksmith - Lure Goblins into local mine (like the Oblivion Goblin Tribe conflict quest) - No more iron items
Spread negative rumors about a town - Less visitors, less trade - Poorer altogether

You can't lay siege to a town by yourself.

It would be fun, but that sounds like a heck of a feature. And further more, what would be the point?

Being able to ruin a town for the heck of it seems like too little of a purpose to actually put a feature in the game about it. I want to know how you can use that goal to your advantage throughout the game.

Yeah, this sounds like radiant AI all over to me. While having that stuff is fun, they'll water it down, so players don't become frustrated by things that are out of their control. Too bad most of us won't get to play around with it a bit, though.
