[RELz] Leafy West Gash 2.0

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:04 am

[OT]
I just had a look and TR does use a few new trees labelled 'ND', whatever that means, and they are used in the latest release. Threre aren't that many though, so it's probably not a big problem.
Spoiler
At a guess ND means N'Dib, looking at "tr_flora_tree01_nd.nif "it looks very much like http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/8605/1280681861_fullres.jpg. That's from Melchior's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8605. However there are 12 TR N'Dib meshes and only 6 in Melchior's pack.

There's also "tr_flora_treeoak_fz1a.nif" through "tr_flora_treeoak_fz1c.nif" which I think is Dracus Dragani. Again in Melchior's pack. There's 3 meshes in TR and 3 in Melchior's pack.

In TR there's "tr_flora_tree_necrom01.nif" and "tr_flora_tree_necrom02.nif", don't think they're in Melchior's pack.

Finally there's a bunch of branches, like "tr_f_treebr_b1ndib.nif"
which are nowhere to be seen in Mostly New Trees.
[/OT]
We now return you to your scheduled release thread. Sorry for the interruption.

Is that a replacer? Cuz I'd use that.

I couldn't stop myself...

hmm looks like someone merged better bodies with leafy west gash :D

aSaPp!5@, yeah it's probably much more demanding than the default trees, i havent tested what impact it has on the FPS though.

Thanks for all your nice comments.

If you are going to build it yourself, it won't cost anywhere near $1600....I realize my computer isn't near top of the line any longer, but when I built it, the 940 had just been released, and the whole thing still only cost around $800 to build, now I could build this computer for ~600 and it will run most anything.

i've never spent that much on hardware really, i just get the best motherboard for overclocking and a good CPU for the purpose (usually very cheap, like $100 or so, and the motherboard is usually like $150).. my current CPU runs at 4.2GHz, it's meant to run at 3GHz. I've had this computer for years now, i'm not gonna upgrade in a long time, runs everything at max. The graphics card is the most expensive thing in my setup, i bought it second hand though so it wasnt that expensive.

C2D's are still amazing, and extremely cheap, I bet if someone were so inclined to build an ultimate "morrowind" system, as opposed to just a modern system, then it could be done in the 4-500 dollar range, assuming one wouldn't use anything except maybe case/HDD and monitor from their current build, even cheaper if you have ram that you could still use. (if you still have your disk, or if you use linux, then the OS won't add to your cost either!)

Like, my current case, HDD's, bdvd drives, and power supply are all sufficient for when I decide to build a "new" system, so all I will need is mobo, cpu, and gfx card and I will be good to go....I'm just waiting to compare AMD's bulldozer's to intell's sandy bridge next year before I spend any money. :P

Hey ho. I was just checking these fine trees in NifSkope to reduce the animation magnitude and I noticed certain things that are inefficient for rendering.

You seem to have doubled the leaf meshes to have correct backface normals, but they are all marked as double sided drawing anyway. The branches seem to have the same texture and material but they are in separate trishapes, using about 3 batches to render instead of one. I could fix them up for one more release?

Good idea, I support it. Might reduce CPU-load a teensy bit. At least I hope so.
