lean and peak

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:07 pm

ive noticed that no one really uses this feature (on consoles at least) and i'm begining to think that no actually knows it exists but its quite good for popping out from cover to shoot quickly rather than doing the strafe shuffle...lol

for those who dont know how to do this on console, ADS and use the left or right d-pad

I use it...A LOT. but i have also noticed that this is extremely dangerous. Not only are you are a siting duck, but u are also popping your head out allowing easy headshots.

I use it some, but that freedom of movement usually seems more valuable. If it's a glass door, I definitely use it.

I use it for those odd moments when I need to shoot but I'm in too much danger to show myself.

I bind lean to Z and X and hit it with my thumb. Out of sight and out of mind, yet close enough to use should I find the need.

I assume it's the same, On Xbox you use the left and right directional buttoms while ADS.

EDIT: ADS (aiming down sights)

i know it exists, but i rarely use it. it is a bit akward for me, because i like to keep a my thumb on the left stick at all times in case i have to move.

My only complaint with the lean feature is that you cannot toggle it. Personally it is quite uncomfortable to hold both the left trigger and the d-pad in the desired direction. I'm fine with any movement canceling the lean as a result.

it is definetly a bit awkward on the d-pad thats why i think most people opt for using the side strafing tactic rather than pop out and shoot, might be a good strategy for snipers though ....... glad to hear people know about it, and if you didnt you do now.

I use it a lot when I'm on the defending team, I rarely ever use it if I'm on the attacking team though.

I've found absolutely no use for these maneuvers - when I engage a target I need to finish him off or the regenerating health/Medics invalidate my ammo use/exposure/telegraphing my location.

I actually removed them from my mapping to make Melee, Interaction and Self-Buff easier to access on my keyboard.

Leaning is great for OSOK (one-shot, one-kill) games where one wrong move can be death. In Brink, we're essentially filling up metaphorical swimming pools with a hose and watching a health bar deplete. One misstep from cover isn't as costly. As someone that enjoys playing a light bodied character, I prefer using my harder-to-hit silhouette and superior mobility over some feature that doesn't provide me much of anything.

I love this feature, but yeah I have never seen someone do it. However, that I don't have a problem with.

^this.

i've never been a fan of the lean feature... it's easier just to strafe. Q and E buttons are prime key binds and are better used for more important functions

Took me a while to find it, and due to the restrictions in it's use and how poorly it was done, I rarely use it.

Actually you can let go of the aim button you only have to hold the d-pad once you've leaned at least i'm pretty sure, hope it helps.

Generalize much? At any rate, I think it's a very situational asset to have, but when you need it, it's nice to have.

YOU MAD.

hahah....honestly man you sound corny acting superior to console players just cause you're playing on a PC it has nothing to do with having more skills than console players or what we're talking about here, not to mention the fact that its the SAME GAME on pc and consoles. if you have nothing to say about the lean and peak feature then dont bother commenting.....
