"Learning Curve" -- My Scribe is Bugged, Does Nothin

Post » Sun Dec 06, 2015 10:43 am

So I picked up the radiant / side mission "Learning Curve" from the BoS, where I'm supposed to escort a scribe to a terminal. I went to the destination (Gunner's HQ), but my scribe now just stands in front of the terminal doing nothing.

He won't interact with the terminal.

I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried activating (pressing "A") at the terminal, and at him -- but he just spouts random lines of dialog. I've tried pushing him into the terminal -- nothing. He just stands there. It's impossible to complete the quest, and I can't get him to stop following me either.

Any help?

Only solutions without console commands I read up were to leave and re-enter the building or reloading a save not to far in the past, before entering the building. Tried that?

Well.. not a solution you might like, but have you tried killing him? From stealth. Read in a couple places you can do that in still not be hostile to the BoS. You just fail that mission and can redo.

That's what I'd do,just execute the scribe in hidden mode then go and turn the mission in,you get the xp and caps anyway. Then simply accept the mission again.

Or just lure the scribe into a super mutant den and let them handle it. Not sure if the scribe is protected (meaning a player has to kill him) or just regular npc.

Or be a man and execute him for failing his duty to the Brotherhood.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried Nunos' advice. I left the building, fast traveled away, slept, and returned the following day with the scribe. When I returned the next day he finally used the terminal, and I was able to complete the quest.
