Learning from your mistakes

Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 2:31 pm

Hey folks ^_^

Just out of interest, I was wondering if anyone made any silly mistakes when they began playing the other ES games that they have learned from and will not repeat in skyrim.

For example, when i first played oblivion, i entered everyones house at night because I didnt know it was against the law. It was utter hell being chased by seven guards -_-

I also never read the manual, and had no idea how to yield to guards, so I was basically running through county skingrad being hunted by guards for my first 2 hours of oblivion. I also was never aware that a "wait" button existed for a good few weeks. I will be sure to read the instructions first this time :toughninja:

Has anyone else learned from their previous mistakes?

In Skyrim I will go easy. I'll take all the time in the world to experience every detail of the game.
In previous TES games I was rushing to see everything asap but it will be different now :)

You knew it was against the law. What you didn't know was that the law was enforced.

Playing and completing the game at least once before adding any dramatic mods.

Always bring an extra lockpick.

lol, gosh, I broke into this one guy's house during the evening, went into his basemant, took some stuff and went back. Turns out, the fool came home and locked the door. I had no lockpicks.... Because I was playing hard core, I didn't want to cheat. Also, because I was trespassing, I couldn't wait either.... Rookie mistake.

I will not join every faction, if its even possible like I did in Oblivion, I will play with strict guidelines on what I allow the character I'm playing to do, ex. a good character can not join Dark Brotherhood also I'm making myself stick to classes I've set in my head, ex. my Bosmer/Ranger can use some magic as i see it as part of the earth but can't use Destruction magic at all. Also I will not rush through on my first playthrough nor will i switch play styles or characters til I beat it once.
