Least Favourite Faction?

Post » Wed Jul 22, 2009 11:11 pm

That's right, I managed to squeeze another thread.

NCR and Brotherhood.

I left out factions like the Powder Gangers and Strip factions to make this less boring.

NCR, I'd say they're just pretty damn epic fail in how to be "civilized."

BOS, just [censored] die out already...

Probably The Boomers. They seem like such an obnoxious lot.

I honestly can't say I have a least favorite faction. I've played all main factions and I like them all, each have their own unique story and I enjoyed playing them all out.

I pretty much liked all the minor factions as well, BoS would probable have to be my least favorite though simply because of their [censored] quest.

I dislike Caesar's Legion the most. I've just finished my first playthrough, siding with the NCR. Although far from perfect, the NCR represented the best possible option, and the game is biased in its favour anyway. So in a first playthrough, its the natural choice to take.

When I play through the game again, I'm quite happy to side with Mr House or Yes Man, but I would really lack the motivation to support the Legion, even for the purposes of roleplaying. I can't really find any redeeming features about them. In my opinion the Legion is full of compliant warriors, who have long since lost the ability to think for themselves, and instead just follow orders. In the meantime, the Legion travels the Wasteland destroying other tribes, enslaving them, or assimilating them into their number. Like some kind of societal virus. Seriously, its everything I hate.

I hope this doesn't turn into an NCR vs Legion debate. <_<

Did you talk to Caesar yet? And I mean really talked to Caesar, as in did the main quest for them and heard all his dialogue.
You really should side with them before judging them, there's more than meets the eye.

Great Khans is my favorite faction out of all of them, with the Followers a close second. I voted Boomers as my least favorite since the Powder Gangers weren't there.

Well, with the Choices, i would say Legion and The Great Kahns. If you put in the Powder Gangers, i would have picked them in a heart beat, or the Fiends. Just line both the Fiends and Powder Gangers up for Brotherhood Target practice, i need something other than that stupid dummy to shoot at. :gun:

Ehhhh, I voted CL and BoS. I mean, honestly. I don't HATE the Legion, but I do look down my nose at them. But I just find the Legion and Caesar himself to be very unimpressive.

I don't have a least favorite Major Faction. If I had to pick it would be the Legion. I need to know more about them but all I get from them is that they a brutal slavers.

Out of the minor factions list.

Brotherhood only because I don't like how we have to once again go crawling to them for PA training.

I voted NCR, because they're to liked, and the Boomers because they weren't very well done. I wouldve voted kings because they had really good ideas and what the king stood for was awsome but I didnt like hoe they were so good yet they were just a small group of Elvis impersonaters. I feel they could've been better and less of a joke.

Major Factions
Mr. House- I don't dislike what House was trying to do. In an anarchistic world a totalitarian regiem would be sucessful on the scale the Mojave Wasteland is. And his aim to travel to space to colonize new planets is easily the best way to get a fresh start in the literal sense. However the way he holds power is similar to the way Caesar keeps his land in control, with fear and power. But still that's not the true issue I have with House controling the strip. The issue plain and simple is that he underestimates all of his opposition.
Lets look at all his the times he underestimated his enimies strength
Spoiler
The Courier getting shot- Benny knew which one carried the Chip, where he would be, and he would be an easy target.
Benny's knowledge of the Chip- House was unconcerned that Benny had the Chip for the most part. He didn't think Benny would be able to do anything with the Chip, and he even doubted he knew it's full potential. When in all reality all he needed was a way to kill House and he would be in control. He was more concerned about disrupting the Casinos then getting the Chip back right away.
The Courier's loalty- If the Courier choses to side with any other faction, he kills House. House's belief that he had the Courier in the palm of his hand would lead directly to his downfall

His sin is his hubris. He always failed to understand his enimies capibilities. Delesuions and granduer is the word that comes to mind when I talk about Mr. Robert House

Minor Factions
The Kahns- I don't like the fact that their economy is based of Chem sales. They are a major cause of civil unrest in the surrounding areas of the strip. Their drugs fuel the Fiends and keep Freeside in the dumps. Also they have deep seeded hatred to the NCR, making things hard for the NCR to do anygood.

Yeah...if you don't do your quest-line you wouldn't learn they condone cannibalism and practice human sacrifice. As stupid, vicious, and corrupt as the NCR's leadership is, they're light years better than the sick crew of perverts calling itself "Caesar's Legion". Putting a bullet into Caesar and Lanius's brainpan to accelerate the Legion's inevitable failure is a service to humanity. Using slavery and extreme terror tactics as social engineering tools to create a artificial culture....which is what Caesar is trying to do...has fail written all over it.

I would think that unlike the Legion, the Khans would create a increased demand for Talon Company's services.

Mr. House, he talks a big game but doesn't really do much, and his ending really made me hate him.

I don't dislike any of the minor factions you listed, but I picked the Great Khans; out of all of them they do the least for me. They sure have a real big moral high horse for a bunch of people who supply murdering raiders with drugs that encourage them to do more murdering.

It's kind of hard to complain about civilian massacres when you are essentially enabling civilian massacres for profit.

Caesar's Legion and Brotherhood of Steel.

Legion: Backward tribal lunatics calling sane people 'degenerates', organized around one leader in such way that the entire empire will crumble when he's gone.

Brotherhood: Technology-obsessed psychopaths. Hate them in every Fallout game. Good thing there's always the option of blowing them up. Which I do everytime. Everytime? Yes, everytime.

Caesars Legion, with that toolbag House a close follow-up. NCR is good people run by bad people. Caesars Legion is just bad all around.

I like most minor factions, but i'm going to go with the Boomers on this one. The story of their people is... terrible :P

And who voted the Remnants? Most badass bunch in Fallout history, bros.

Aside from Cannibal Johnson, the Remnants have no problem fighting to the death for Caesar's Legion. I like their characters, but I've rarely seen people with so little morals. Fighting for the Enclave, the NCR, the Legion, they don't care as long as they get to shoot people.

NCR and Remnants

NCR - they just fail at everything
Remnants - haven't seen them yet, which is as good a reason as any other
