Left 4 Dead 2 Meetup

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:32 pm

over the past couple of weeks me, Stormrider, teehee:3, revolution and plenty of others have been playing L4D2 together and occasionally we've managed to create a versus match with full 4 vs 4 teams, all BSF forumers.

Needless to say, those 8 player versus matches were awesome and we had a lot of fun playing them. Last time we had one of those games we had more than 8 people playing so not everyone got to play as much as they wanted.

That's why we decided to be more organized the next time around and actually plan things instead of just jumping in game, inviting everyone to play and hope for the best :P

So.. this is the signup thread, and a thread to discuss this BSF meetup and the future of such events. At the moment most of us are in Europe, and the lobby leader has always been European which means that we've been playing on EU servers which means a lot of latency issues for our American and Canadian friends.

IF we get enough people, maybe we can have two events at the same time, one American and one European.. so please say what continent you are from when you sign up. :)

tl;dr: We are going to play a versus match in L4D2 tonight with forumers. Sign up here if you want to join.

Current list of players:

Note: Even though the list is full, you can still sign up. People sometimes drop out and if we're lucky we might even get TWO full teams.
  • Stormrider (Europe)
  • Exorince (Europe)
  • revolutionfilms (Europe)
  • old_andy (Europe)
  • Capital
  • Povuholo
  • CptJoker (Europe)
  • WanderingRogue

The game will start at 15:00 GMT (17:00 CET). Please join http://steamcommunity.com/groups/BZKS, there is an even set up there which will remind you when it's time.

What are your computer specs? Because the Source engine isn't exactly new and there is an unofficial L4D2 FPS config which makes the game run on almost any modern computer.

Aww I'd definitely have been up for this but think I'm going to the cinema tonight with BF....meh. :(

Also I might have to fight TeeHee to the death for the right to play as Rochelle. ;)

Onboard graphics and a 2ghz intel dual-core. This thing is 5 years old, basic, and virtually can't play anything.
I was thinking about putting a low-end card in the thing, but there really is no point. I am planning on building my first gaming rig in the next couple months anyway. Until then, the computer I have now is basically an old rpg and WoW player (on low settings pathetically)

my old laptop could barely play WoW on lowest settings and I still finished Half-Life 2 on it.

Shotgun Nick if Tee's not around

Although that's only when playing as a survivor, infected is way more fun

Do that and stormo will bash your head in with a crowbar the second the game starts.

Downloaded the demo a little while back. I got the game to run okay on lower settings, but the second too much started going on, things got crippling slow. I would think that L4D would be even worse with many enemies on screen at once. Like I said though, in a few months this hopefully won't be a problem. I have wanted to move over to pc gaming for a while now.

I can probably join, if I can sort out the whole mess that is installing Windows 7 in time.

Installing Windows 7 is surprisingly fast. I reinstalled my OS recently and I didn't even have time to finish one cup of tea during the install

Oh the installing was pretty quick. But I'm having all sorts of problems with inconsistent sound levels right now. My speakers don't have a volume knob so I have to use software to adjust it, and it's not quite working as it should right now.

And at some point I started getting some kind of 'paged fault in non paged area' BSOD shortly after every time I'd start up the PC so I had to do a system restore.

I could possibly join you tonight, but if I did I'd be making no promises. 17:00 GMT is 22:00 EST, so I may be awake by then.

What counts as a "forumer" anyway? Are some people on the BGSF forums not "forumers"?

I'd guess he means no friends of forumers

I'm keen if there is a match at some other time. 16:00 GMT is about four in the morning for me. Also, I've barely played L4D2 and would probably be less than ideal as a team member...
