Left handed main characters?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:37 am

So, with all this talk about the two hand system for controlling our Dragonborn, I've started to wonder... I'm left handed, and I really hate that games force you to always play a righty! >_<

I've been wondering, do you think that purposely equipping a sword in your left and shield in your right hand, you can essentially "make" your character a lefty? I'm thinking this might be a possibility - a nice one too! Hopefully there isn't some dumb "off-hand" restriction that makes wielding a sword in the character's left hand gimped or something.

Thoughts? Would you like to see this?

It's already been confirmed that you can put whatever you want in any hand, meaning a sword in your left and a shield in your right, or whatever.

I think that hand orientation should be a choice in the character creation.

I'm guessing that you can simply equip any weapon to either hand, or equip the weapon offhand on your character (Such as on our back).
But i'm only guessing, none of this might be true however.

That's because all dragon born are ambidextrous, you can speak words of power and write with both hands.

Since you can put a sword in your left hand and a shield in your right and since each hand is tied to a button you can then use the left trigger/left mouse button to swing and right trigger/mouse button to block. You can be left handed.

Now all I have to do is strengthen my right mouse button finger to dual wield. Not used to using it much.

About a month ago I emailed Bethesda asking this exact question. Surley if it's getting enough attention they will atend to the request, after all, how hard can it be?

I may have to make a left handed character only to make my key-binds make sense. Primary attack-> left click-> left hand attack, secondary attack-> right click-> right hand attack.

Da Vinci was a Dragonborne!

But yeah, even though I'm right handed, it always bugged me that, in first person perspective RPG's, you couldn't change your hand preference. It's probably way too complex and irritating to create animations around Right-left handed preference, but still.

Until Nintendo decided to let the WII screw that up... :sadvaultboy:
