Left Handed Pipboy Edition

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:20 am

If you don't have a right arm then you can't use a pip boy regardless of which arm you want to put it on. Want it on the right arm? Well you don't have one. Want it on the left arm? Fine but without a right arm (and subsequently a right hand) how do you make use of it?

Pip boy is something you need two working limbs and most of your fingers to make use of.

That may be, but the Pip Boy is nothing more than a glorified caddy for a smart phone. The application works just fine without the Pip Boy caddy.

That is a good question. I actually didn't think about it and I'm left handed too.

Whats alarming is back in the 50's and 60's (In Australia at least and the era Fallout is roughly based on), Teachers in schools actually disciplined students who were left handed and forced them to start doing things right handed. As obviously the best way to change a persons mannerisms is in school. A lot of people .. became right handed. (My Parents were such people although they have reverted back to being left handed).

THe practice was stopped in the 70's but was definetly a government push to eradicate the left handed person.

The government hardly had anything to do with forcing people to be right-handed... It was all the Catholics, and other religious nuts who thought "They're not using their right hand? They must be evil possessed satanists, because that explains it!"

I swear these forums are just where minorities go to complain about things that the majority don't care about/ want.

Both my folks went to Government schools. There were no nuns or religous people involved.

It was exactly this, happened to my grandfather. I'm glad it didn't happen to me because I would have shown them what a real devil looks like.

It was still happening in the 90's in Canada, though probably not on a large scale. I know several people I went to High School with other than myself who also had it happen. My early teachers were generally protestant, but it was a very common practice in public schools when my dad was a kid (he's a righty, but he saw it happen frequently). A lot of the older teachers did it because that's how they were trained to teach.

In a twisted way it does make sense. You want everyone to be right handed as this makes creation of tools for the whole population easier.
