leg shots to slow down enemies

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 1:03 am

I can never run faster than a goul, gecko and deathclaws.

Who here always uses VATS to take out a charging enemies leg first shot, so they cant out run u while running backwards as your trying to finnish them off? Wise move or over rated. I think it makes sence because i cant see behind me, and always run into a rock or building and they catch up with me.

Also who bothers with land mines in this situation? What do u do when u cant outrun an enemy??

When I can't out run an enemy I shoot them in the head until it explodes. Also grenades/mines. Lots of explosives. Just explosions everywhere.

I was never good at timing dynamite or grenades thrown so I just used landmines while running backwards is followed by death crawl how about you what is your explosive skill is that important to you

I use VATS for every single combat encounter, except when I'm out of action points. Then I'm usually just blasting away at random while scrambling backwards trying to escape.

Best use: shooting the legs off feral ghouls, then having your companion finish them off. If they're continually missing their shots, I'll walk up to the downed ghoul with my pistol drawn. Without VATS, I aim and just put one straight in their head.

I can't decide if it feels more like a mercy killing, or a mafia execution.

What kind of mercy killing involves blasting off their legs first? :P

I generally go for the legs only on enemies where I feel it would be faster to cripple their legs than to just keep shooting at them in real-time until they drop. Glowing Ones and Legendary Feral Ghouls, and Assaultrons. But f'ing Assaultrons are relentless, they'll start crawling after you. I have a lot of leg crippling Mirelurk legs with mines, and that works out really well, but just shooting at them doesn't seem worth it.

Honestly so far only enemy I care to people legs on is the glowing ghouls, so far I notice that if you blast of there leg so they enter that crawling state they can't do that AoE radiation attack, which is there most dangerous move in my opinion.

Legendary ghouls lose a leg first. I did have a lot of fun taking both arms and one leg off of a legendary synth... he just sat there, glaring at me. :wavey:

great. boxman now I'm stuck with that images image from terminator where he's still crawling at him with no legs, lol.

also does anybody use that to shoot the weapon out of strong enemies does that damage the weapon if you want to salvage it

speaking of salvaged weapons would you guys rather build your attributes towards repair or barterto maintain a weapon's conditionwhen I say barter so you can use the shop to repair your weapon or do you build your attributes towards repair so you can salvage weapons and repairing herself what are you guys prefer

There is no weapon condition. I don't know if crippling their arms makes them drop their weapons, but perks in melee and gunslinger add that possibility and it's quite nice.

YeahI dogo for tough enemies in the legs or even arms because they often seem to weaken quicker than heads. Works great against Mirelurks and Deathclaws.

I had a legendary gangrenous glowing one writhing on the ground with no arms, no legs, briefly yesterday. I had to laugh a bit at how useless he was at that point.

I still get a giggle out of glowing ones resurrecting fallen ghouls when they do their rad blast, though.

Ghouls, deathclaws and super-mutant suiciders ALL get lead to the knee as soon as I see them.

If I didn't make it a rule to finish them off there'd be a thousand ghouls out there saying "I used to be a roamer, but then I took some buckshot to the knee".

Supermutants, radscorpions, behemoths and deatclaws, absolutely. Most everything else I just head or arm shot or torso shot.

Sometimes do the legs when I want to make one of the boss raiders suffer though (I'm looking at you Red, Kendra, Smiling Kate and Sinjin!). Then I can pick them apart slowly, one limb at a time.

All fast moving enemies will get an arrow to their knee... I mean, they will get their legs shot off.

Enemies using firearms may get hit in the head, arm or leg depending on the situation.

I use a either VATS or sights depending on the situation.

I seldom use VATS but when I do and I shoot someone/something in the leg it always dies. :(

Except for this one legendary raider.

Funny ^_^

Its best to shoot those blasted charging mirelurks in the legs? Me: "What, is your leg crippled? Can't charge at me anymore?" Mirelurk: mumbling something as: "leg cramp! Leg Cramp!..."

Sometimes stuff happens so fast and I run backwards, often into a corner or get stuck on something. I then pull out my mighty shotgun and pump them full of lead, until they die. Afterwards, I remember that there is VATS... hmm lol

I like to trap Deathclaws behind crumbling walls or trees. A lot of NPCs have pathing issues. :)

Most of the times though, I sneak up on them and go for a headshot, instead of a leg shot. Doesn't always work... but I try. LOL

Not really. Silenced 2-shot 10mm pistol or Overseers whatever it's named (Combat Rifle, upgraded but still).

I play on normal though.

if you're playing on survival, blowing off the legs of ghouls is necessary for survival. crippling deathclaws is satisfying and depressing at the same time.
