I really liked what I saw before I read the books, and then I read the books and couldn't get into the show as much anymore..but I did use those character faces for each of the faces in the books haha.

The shows seemed to mellowed down and only covered the first book really. There's so much more after that. But yeah it was too different for me and I had a hard time watching it with any enjoyment after I read them.

Sounds like I will need to hunt down these books, but I do love the corniness of the show and Zed rocks.

Zed does indeed Rock.
Never read the books, but the daughter is a fan, so I watch it with her.
Don't fault me, she's a teenager and it's time we spend together.
Also, Darken Rahl ......wickedly hot. I like him much better bad than as Haldir in LOTR.

I've watched both seasons of the show, and I've only recently started reading the books.

I like both, but obviously the books go into more detail and character background.

What really surprised me when reading Wizards First Rule was how well cast the three main characters are in the show, I didn't think it was even possible to get three people who can not only emulate the personalities of their characters well, but also look almost exactly like how they were described in the books.

As is usually the case, the books are better, but I do like that the show doesn't take itself as seriously as it could. It has a good amount of silliness to it, while not going overboard like in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

I religiously watched it when it was still on the air.

Read all of the books part way through the second season. I then didn't quite like the show anymore, as the books are kind of, well, odd, to put it lightly.

Bridget Regan is beautiful, though.

What I think is funny in the show is how Zed's magic is situational.

Example: He seems to be 100% with spells that supposedly only work ever 100years or so.

Other Example: Ive seen Zed go invisible before, but other times Ive seen him sneak out of places...

My favorite one has the be the one where Zed does the birthday party with a very special puppet.
I will be glad when the new episodes come out. Rerun season is :(

IIRC, both the actor who portrays him and the character are still alive.

I like it because the wizard is the helicopter pilot in Mad Max.
