Legend of the Star

I still don't understand how to get Festus to accept my (30+) Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Caps. I continue to gather them up here and there, yet can't seem to insert them into the machine. Any suggestions...? Thanks, gang...!

The quest requires you have at least 50 sunset sarsaparilla star caps.

You need to have 50 sunset star caps before he will accept them

- I recommend just drinking all your Sunset Saps in one got IIRC there is a 1:7 chance of a star. Maybe 1:10 :)

It's amazing how much easier it is to play this game once I actually know what I'm doing...

The funny part is that Festus' dialogue implies that he would have accepted less than 50 caps at once; so, either 1) the proofreader missed it, or 2) they had intended to allow it but had to drop the idea due to time constraints. I'm inclined toward the former, but you never know.

Yeah i was confused about that the first time I tried to do that quest. Maybe it's a glitch and Festus was suppose to take the bottlecaps but didn't.

Nope, you don't collect half of something and hand that in then go get the rest at another date.
Realistically you'd go with a complete collection otherwise someone would come after you've entered some then they;d finish it off and get the prize.

That's true, but it's not like you have any competition for the prize.

More to the point: nothing Festus says indicates that you have to hand all 50 in at once, which makes it seem odd when he doesn't accept them until you have 50. Yeah, from the POV of the promoter it would be silly to allow it, but it would be a reasonable game-play concession since the Courier is the only one who can actually turn them in.

I see why they didn't add it in, though, since the whole point of the exercise is to encourage the player to thoroughly explore the Mojave to find the things.

If they would have allowed turning in the caps before having 50 of them, I would imagine that a lot of glitches would take place.

I would have liked a Science Option to hack into the network of the Sunset Sarsaparilla HQ and force the doors open. This quest reminded me too much of Nirnroot.

LOLOL OMG so true! The Nirnroot hunt and it didn't end with Oblivion, there are more Nirnroots to hunt down in Skyrim. LOL

I can understand that House wants to protect his warehouse of securitrons. Can't blast open the doors, drill them open, ram them down, or shoot them open.

But this was a little, thin door. I understand it was airtight, but nothing says we should not have been capable to breaking in from other means. That just brings back bad memories of Oblivion and Skyrim.
