Windwaker was cell shading, this is something else. One of the guys that interviewed them said it reminded him of anime, like Princess Mononoke. I have to agree with him.
I've tried playing it, both on Gamecube and 3DS, and have never gotten far. The whole time aspect of it gives me anxiety, even though I know there are things you can do (songs to learn, items to get, etc.) that can keep you from losing progress.
But, yeah, I rather hated Water Temple in Ocarina. I mean...I like the music in it, and the details, but it's so confusing. However, I'd say that i hate the Shadow Temple and Bottom of the Well the most - those always freak me out. The equivalent temple in Twilight Princess, the Arbiter's Grounds(?), was creepy as well, but had more of a Spirit Temple (OoT)/Earth Temple (WW) vibe.
I also loved the Spirit Temple (except for the shadow hand creatures that drop from the ceiling). My only gripe is that the Mirror Shield is used so sparsely in it. That's why, despite the Redeads, I love the Earth Temple in WW - Mirror Shield is utilized to its full extent!
Whenever I did Spirit Temple, I just HAD to wear the red tunic to match the Mirror Shield! =3
I'm calling the cops, you are not sane to walk among us. I hated that temple with a passion.
I glad they are keeping this cell shading it's a breath of fresh air in this oversaturated media that's trying it's hardest to be "hip" and "edgy" for the kids with the grimdark crap.
Yeah, dunno why the cell shading's such a big deal, especially given how gorgeous it looks compared to Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. I think it fits the art style perfectly.
Yeah, honestly. As much as I liked the game, Twilight Princess used that to great effect (well, more orange/gold than brown really) and it just ends up looking dull and unfun. On the other hand you have Majora's Mask, which wasn't afraid to go all out on the colors while being the darkest installment in the series by far.
Hah! That's AAA games alright!
"It's a kids game!" they said about Majora's Mask. That game is darker than a good chunk of recent horror games.
