Legend of Zelda MMO?

Post » Fri Nov 05, 2010 3:55 am

"The land of Hyrule may be invading your computer very soon -- or maybe you will be invading it. Nintendo, creator of the console hit the Legend of Zelda, has just registered for an ESRB rating for a game called Zelda Universe. According to the ESRB website, this mysterious game has received an "E" rating with "violence" as the only descriptive text, but the game is listed as "online." Although all other Nintendo games have a console listed along with the rating, this particular title does not. This could very well mean that everyone's favorite adventurer will appear in an MMORPG.

The official website for the Legend of Zelda games is called Zelda Universe, but the Entertainment Software Rating Board is not in the habit of handing out ratings to online content unless that content is also a game. Perhaps this is one of the big announcements Nintendo will reveal in its presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in less than 12 days."

Ugh.

I seriously have my doubts that Nintendo would make a Zelda MMO. How would that work anyway? Thousands of Links in slightly different coloured tunics running around instanced dungeons? Its possibly they might just be planning some mini-online game or a tech demo for Project Cafe alongside the lines of projects such as Link's Crossbow Training.

Possibly, and hopefully.

Whew. That's good. Nintendo has done enough damage to the Zelda Universe since that horrid Wii game. Anything passed WW and Oracles/Seasons has been garbage IMO.

Which I considered significantly inferior to Link to the Past.

You're all nuts, Wind Waker was clearly the best. :P

Followed by A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and then Link's Awakening.

Twilight Princess was good, but it was basically the same game as Ocarina of Time.

I can't see Nintendo going the MMO route with Zelda.

I stopped trying to rank Zelda games, personally. Whenever people ask me which Zelda is my favorite, I just tell them the name of whichever one I beat last. :P

Nah, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask is the best ones. Wind Waker only held my attention for two dungeons >_>

Also, great avatar. Policenauts is awesome!

They could do a Nippon RPG MMO that doesn't svck.
That would be a success story, i guess.
Maybe something based in the Secret of Mana franchise,
which already has a multiplayer Nippon RPG on SNES!

That it is. ^_^ If I could see one game turned into a film, it'd be Policenauts. Directed by Kojima of course, though from what I've read he doesn't particularly care for when folks bring up either Snatcher or Policenauts. Kinda shatters my hope of ever seeing another game in the Policenauts universe too.

Oh well, there's a "very special" announcement set for E3, which may mean Zone of the Enders 3.

Edit- As for Zelda, I'd really like Nintendo to try and take the series to different time periods and apply real-world themes. I can't be the only one that thinks a Zelda game set in Feudal Japan would be amazing. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2011/05/loz_samurai.jpg, dammit!

Sure it's sad that there probably won't be more games in either Policenauts or Snatcher(Sure there is project S, but after many years, we still don't know anything about it. And the latest info appears that it won't be something Snatcher related at all.) universe. The good thing is that neither game won't be ruined by very bad sequels.

or another metal gear... Not that it would be bad, but that man needs to do something else now. Seriously.

Well, if he sticks to his word, it http://kotaku.com/5806200/will-metal-gear-solid-5-be-unveiled-at-e3-no at least.

Next year, for Metal Gear's 25th anniversary, you're thinking of doing something big: "Yes."

Suppose it could be something about that, but I'd like to think either ZoE3 or a new IP entirely. I have a feeling that neither Konami or his fans will ever let Metal Gear Solid end though. I thought MGS4 was a fine conclusion to such a great series.

I hope it's something new, ZOE3 or finally something Project S related. I want some Suda in my Kojima :hubbahubba: .
