Legendary Animals/Deeper Hunting

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 4:24 am

He was more than a bit of a letdown...

"This thing is OMG freakin' huge..." :slap: "...and a complete wuss too. Wow."

They could've at least made him into a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Mudcrab_Merchant or something.

I never did manage to find him. I just hocked stuff to Scamp.

Aatxe - A spirit that takes the form of a bull.
Abassy - Demons that have teeth of iron.
Abada - Small type of unicorn reported to live in the lands of the African Congo.
?b?d? - Forest spirit
Abaia - Huge magical eel
Abarimon (Medieval Bestiaries) - Savage humanoid with backward feet.
Abath - One-horned animal
Acheri - Disease-bringing ghost
Achiyalabopa - Rainbow-feathered birds
Achlis - Curious elk
Adar Llwch Gwin - Giant birds that understand human languages.
Adaro- Malevolent merfolk
Adhene - Nature spirit
Adlet - Vampiric dog-human hybrid

Just googled mythical animals and that list came up on google. Those are only the a's.
I understand many of those don't fit in with lore, but the names are interesting

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Greenmead_Cave and the Creeper (if that is the scamp you are referring to) were in two different games.

Note: link is to the location of the giant mudcrab

I think deeper hunting would be very interesting. Being able to track and trap animals would be great fun for roleplayers such as myself, but I don't see it making an appearance, since that would take quite a bit of development time.
It would add quite a bit of realism and tension to have to watch the trees for drop bears when you enter a forest too.

Actually I was talking about the Mudcrab Merchant. Never found him and Creeper* was more convenient

I want the hunting thing to be brought up to speed as it were with the rest of the game.
Having special quest that certain legendary mobs spawn afterwards or something like that, I mean sure they could just drop a dozen or so extremely tough creatures in the world but what would be the fun? Having a questline leading up to certain creatures and THEN dropping them in the world makes the hunt more epic IMO. Things like that would be really great.

I don't agree with this. Their should not be quests for hunting, that kind of ruins the immersion. You should be able to find these legendary animals by yourself, and kill them however you want. A scripted quest with a marker would ruin the whole concept.

Unless the quest was like: "Their have been rumors of a beastly mammoth roaming the eastern borders of Skyrim. I should try to find this beast and slay him." with no markers or other stages.

I like the idea, having a few rare/powerful animals scattered around Skyrim, very tough to bring down, and a reward of an achievement and some high value hide/meat for destroying it. Sounds interesting, I think it could work.

Being able to use their hides for crafting some cool and unique items would be even better and more worthwhile in hunting them.

Yup. Then you can display them in your home, or sell them for a huge profit.

maybe a giant bear with claws as sharp as steel and giant teeth that are saber shaped. a saber tooth tiger that has wings and it's a sort of dragon. a giant that has an ultra rare weapon like a club made of fire or something with special mammoths that he gets to attack you in front while he bashes your back. a werewolve with a sword or a staff or something.

I didn't know "steel" was sharp... A "werewolve" with a sword? Only game I've seen weird stuff like that is WoW. Other than WoW, I've never seen werewolves wield weapons other than their teeth and claws.

So, wait.
You're saying "lolhere kill it" is more immersive than an epic storyline that changes with each play due to Radiant Story that delves you into the mystery/culture of the animal that people tell you about?
How does that even make sense to you?

Not a "lol here kill it" moment. More like, you always here people talk about this sacred animal and you decide to look for it. Instead of a quest guiding you to find it, you have to talk to people, listen to rumors, track, etc.

I never said anything about a quest "guiding" you to the animal. More like, educating you ABOUT the animal. Having a quest guide you to the kill is the same thing as "lolhere kill it". And that's what I'd like to avoid. Keep the mystery in the hunting process. Leave it up to YOU to make the trek to find the beast, and leave it up to YOU to kill it. That part is what I'd like to keep. But I think quest for certain beasties would be pretty cool, in a manor stated previously.

ive said it before and i shall say it again they need to add the following creature to the game as a part of hircines daedric quest.
The Pale one a giant bull mammoth about twice the size of a regular mammoth with bone white fur tons of scars and even some arrows and javelins inbedded into its hide. and harvest one of its six tusks.

Ohh I get it. I thought you meant quest marker leading you to the animal. It should be a quest that you get near the beginning of the game, where you hear rumors of said legendary animal. Then, maybe after 100 hours of gameplay, and maybe the main quest done with, you randomly find the animal and kill it. Now THAT would be an epic quest.

Ironically, the one merging Pokemon with TES is the one making more sense. I can't see how anybody would give a crap about a guy hunting a legendary animal in the middle of a civil war, unless said animal is somehow making the things even worse.

EDIT: Sorry for being so harsh guys. I am in a foul mod and you have not the fault.

people would like it because its an RPG and what the point of an RPG if you cant go out and do what you want?
so what if theres a civil war? is that the only thing you want to focus on through the entire game?
that would be one crappy experience in my book

Zombie dragons?

Necromancers taking control of a dragon? I like!
Seriously, I want to fight a kraken. That would be awesome.
