Legendary Armor ... ugly?

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 10:56 am

I was wondering if there was a way to change how the armor we wear looks? I am wearing a set of 15% human damage resist armor and it just looks bad, very bad. That with my blue suit, its lame. Any way to change how it looks?

Mod

But that really depends on what armor you are talking about. Personally I hate the white combat armor so I find a black combat armor then my game looks so much better

Not without mods. You'll find more legendary armor as your progress through the game though, and it's likely that you'll eventually find some that you find to be aesthetically pleasing. Legendary drops are a toss up, so it may take a while. Personally I take aesthetics and base resistances over legendary perks as far as my clothing and armor is concerned.

Switch to Atom Cats Jacket and jeans with Ballistic Weave, and some Legendary Leather Leg Armor. Looks pretty good. Can't wear chest or arm pieces with the Atom Cats, but you can wear the leg pieces. I usually choose Chameleon and Luck (or maybe Sentinel). For added protection, I also wear the Battered Fedora with Ballistic Weave. Got Curie dressed the same. We are our own little gang! :D

For me, I mostly encounter Legendary leather or metal armor...which just doesn't look the best/doesn't have as good defense overall than other armors. I'm lucky to find a Legendary combat armor piece. All Legendary armor looks the same as the non-Legendary variants, it seems.

All the armor is ugly. My character looks ridiculous. I stopped caring.

Pretty much this. I look like a [censored] 10 year old dressed up as his favorite superhero. Raiders should die from laughter.

Am I missing something? I thought legendary armor looks exactly like normal armor, and that appearance was based solely on the workbench mods you added.

Pretty much this. I just wear normal clothes, the sliver shroud outfit or Kellogg's armor.

Legendary armors have the same look as normal armors. But Legendary armor doesn't mean it'll be under the 'Heavy' class.

You aren't missing anything. It seems to me that we are lamenting the "hodge-podge" armor setup.

Army Helmet

Blue vault suit

Legendary Metal Chest Piece

Legendary Synth Left Leg

Legendary Combat Armor Right Leg

Legendary Leather Right Arm

Legendary Synth Right Arm

We want to wear the varied pieces because of the Legendary effects we found, but it makes you look ridiculous.

Like some sort of 6 year old who went through his Dad's closet and picked out a bunch of random stuff, and is pretending that he is a man. Cute for a 6 year old. Not so much for an advlt.

Would be nice if we could transfer the effect to other items, so we could at least wear a matching set.

edit: Once I get Ballistic Weave, I switch to Atom Cats jacket and two leather leg pieces with legendary effects. At least I can stand to look at myself. Usually a Battered Fedora with Ballistic weave, or the Press cap with Ballistic weave. Or maybe I will wear the Silver Shroud with the Battered Fedora...

edit edit: I was lvl 74 and still didn't have a matching set of Legendary Combat Armor...

I like it myself. I mean if I was really going somewhere where people are going to be shooting at me I'd want to wear some kind of armor. I don't use the weave (magic clothe) as it just to OP and ridiculous to me.

Where did you find a vault 13 suit? Did you transfer a character from FO2?

I'm still wearing my Vault 111 suit, fully upgraded now. Combined with BOS Sturdy Combat Armor and BOS Commando helmet.

Armors in Bethesda games have always looked like [censored], it's like they were designed for games with a top down isometric pov, not something you'd actually want to see close up haha.

Not all legendary armor is "heavy". Mine companion(s) and I run around with "light" versions. It depends on what kind of legendary that has been added, some legendary belongs only to "heavy" things, but I may be wrong. Some armor doesn't fit together with other kinds of armor. Looks weird. If you fit your companion with only same kind of synth armor, I bet your companion looks cute :-)

Cheers,

I'm fine with it...my character looks messed up anyway in a red dress with 2 different legendary armgaurds, a stupid looking hat, and glasses...but the only time I see her is in dialogues...

(is it me (my eyes), or does the legendary metal armors have blood on them?)

I've always liked the way leather armor looks, whether I'm playing FO4 or Skyrim. My current character just happen to get lucky enough to run across a couple of pieces of heavy leather armor (chest and leg) courtesy of a Queen Mirelurk. Throw on a couple of more pieces of leather armor on top of a gunner harness, I think my character looks pretty good in his wasteland attire.
