LEGENDARY Enemies?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:30 pm

I have seen a ton about legendary enemies and they are mentioned in the pip boy app.

From my understanding they have better loot and are tougher.

Do we know if they are variants of enemies or actual unique bosses or what?

What do you think they will be like and what components or rarities do you hope they drop!?

I personally want a unique minigun from one :)

I'm really hoping that they'll be unique boss-like enemies that require a bit of a different approach but I'm not personally holding out hope. It's definitely something that I'd like to see BGS continue to improve with, though.

They are just a well equipped version of a normal enemy for super mutants that means heavy armor ect.. a image was leaked of a legendary super mutant packing heavy armor and a minigun where they normally wear pieced together armor.

Yeah I was reading legendary enemies drop legendary items, which I thought was cool.

I think of them as the Mother Deathclaw in FENV, with better loot. We will have to wait and see the

Do legendary enemies only appear if you choose a certain difficulty level or does the difficulty level just make them appear sooner than they would at lower levels?

And are they centered around bullet sponging?

I believe it was Legendary creatures in Fallout NE?

Kinda, they also hit like trucks on steroids. Especially the legendary Cazador was a pain in the butt.

well considering you seem to be centered around complaining non stop, I would say yes.

Because Bethesda clearly exists just for you to complain more.

Let's be realistic here. The average video gamer is no here to basically try to solo some mythic Mmo raid boss who is inexplicably stuck in a room someplace that requires a idioticaly complex strategy involving things like swapping to a completely diferent weapon or stop D.P.S.ing the mob during this phase or letting the off tanks die or God knows what, and the raid leader yelling at you to get your ass out of the fire/boiling disease pool/lava/ice trap/blatantly obvious because a bullseye spotlight just lit up the floor at your feet impact zone. And given how bad bethesdas idea of"AI"is....

From what I gathered, it's pretty much going to be the same as how Badass enemies from Borderlands worked.

Legendary enemies have a random chance of replacing a normal enemy, which will be visible from a star next to their health. In exchange for being "tougher" (tedious based on beths past track record, I hope I'm wrong), they will have a chance to drop better loot and there will probably be challenges and unique perks related to killing them.

That's just my guess though.

From what I understood higher difficulty levels (especially the last one which is Survival) increase the chances of running into legendary variants of enemies.

Are they all called "legendary whatever"? It's kinda weird to run into stuff like "legendary raider" every other enemy camp, they're not really legendary then, are they?

Would be cool, if legendary meant the enemy would be named or titled depending on if it's a creature or humanoid.

I'd like this to be true.

The Legendary enemies in FNV were 1 off's meant as a trophy hunt, in F4 having enemies in the game that can randomly spawn as Legendary and be considerably tougher will be a nice challenge.

In NV there was only 5 of them. If the leak difficulty is true there are way more.

about them being "bullet sponges" probably... but thats the point.. legendary of a certain mob will be wearing top level equipment like heavy armor ect.. so naturally it will take more bullets to kill them otherwise the armor would be kinda well useless.

Excellent idea, I think this will make the game so that every time you find a new location for example a supermarket, which Raiders or Super Mutants have set up camp in, that there will usually be a clear boss/leader in their team and this will make the fight much more fun and challenging to kill the boss. I am sure they won't just name every one 'legendary raider' etc. and it will be like the names which were in FO3 etc such as ghouls -> glowing ones/feral ghoul reavers which are the higher level versions, super mutants -> super mutant brute/super mutant behemoth

Plus they are not 'bullet sponges' because if you fought a legendary unit in a group of enemies, the most effective way (in any game normally) to kill the group and win the battle is to kill the weaker units* first then the boss/legendary unit. So in effect, that stops them from being 'bullet sponges' (because bullet sponges means they are only there to soak the bullets for the weaker units, when they are not actually) . E.g. if I found a legendary unit and a group of weaker units, I would kill the weaker (and ranged) units first so that it would reduce the amount of enemy units who can damage me at the same time until I kill the legendary unit. [if you have a group of enemies attacking you kill the lower HP one's first and reduce the overall damage you can receive per second to fight more effectively, eg if there are 3 super mutants attacking at same time kill the lowest health one first as he can still deal basically the same damage as the other 2 super mutants]

Weve already seen a legendary super mutant in one of the leaks.. wearing very heavy armor and a minigun (the armor is very bulky.. almost power armor level of bulkiness which makes sense for a super mutant) So they will have much heavier armor/weapons than normal mobs and will not just be a normal enemy with higher stats... they will actually look different with stronger looking armor/weapons ect

The only thing im not sure of is how they will handle enemies that dont use gear.. will they also have a different appearance?

They call them bullet sponges because they are designed to eat up your bullets.. basically they have insanely high health so that you HAVE to use alot of bullets to kill them.. thats what people are afraid of.

Use melee weapons or unarmed problems solved. OR use energy or normal weapons/guns, and when you kill the legendary enemies you will get higher value loot than you get from normal enemies. You can then sell that higher value loot for a profit of caps worth more ammo than you used to kill the enemy, and buy more ammo than you had in the first place. Problem solved.

it is a great idea and shouldn't be feared fallout peeps.

If you look at Legendary Enemies negatively as a bullet sponge, then surely you must view every enemy as a bullet sponge. What would be the point of playing a combat game if you view it that way negatively then. The point of combat is a fun battle not to stockpile all your ammo and avoid battles. If you are skilled at the game you can still buy ammo in bulk if you need ammo so much.

I mod it so I can be one shot and so can human enemies. If I get hit with a shotgun instant death, if they do instant death. It keeps you on your toes to know even 1 mistakes can mean you are dead.

I also mod it so ammo is very rare, you are never stock piled with ammo. It is not uncommon for me to never have more than 10-20 bullets. Make those shots counts, judge engagements carefully.

Stimpacks are nearly non existent, broken limbs severely impede you etc

Certain enemies are more "bullet spongy" within reason and this makes the game harder because whereas they can potentially one shot you you can't them. Robots for example unless you are using an EMP weapon take many shot from ballistic weaponry, Ghouls take numerous shots the the torso (only one to the head, rewards aiming), Deathclaws take a few due to their thick armor plating etc

Legendary enemies should have unique loot, unique appearances, unique lore etc. Not just a sponge that absorbs 100 bullets as I fear they will be
