Tell us about some of the legends , myths and lore that is specific to your region.

COLORADO
Pt. 1

Welcome to the Mile High City did you have a nice flight ? I bet you can't wait to hit the slopes? Let's hit Baggage Claim and snach up your board.
" What are all those Gargoyles doing up there ?"
Weird huh? Dude, not only is DIA one of the worlds busiest Airports, it is also the apocalyptic headquarters for the New World Order .
" Put on your boots it's getting deep in here, Mate. I just got off the plane and already with your sillyness."
NO Really, I'm not making this [censored] up . The conspiracy theorists claim that there is a exspansive secret military base built underneath Denver International Airport . I saw some pictures of the tunnels on YOUTUBE but you know that could have been anywhere. There was a big screw up out here when they were building . I dont have specific details but it caused catistrophic delays concerning the projects construction schedule.
" Really ?"
The airport is supposed to look like a swatizcha from the sky.
" I noticed that , It must be a unfortunate coincidence. "
There all sorts of weird art around here too. I'd show you some of that stuff but you probaly want to hit Colfax. We'll be able to see the Devil Horse on the way out . It's a 32 ft tall statue of a demonic looking steed rearing up on it hind quarters with fire in it's eyes.
" Wicked "
There are these murals that were painted by Leo Tanquma in a couple of the concourses. They had to paint over one of them because it caused so much trouble. It was pretty weird I'll show you the pix at the coffee house, I brought my tablet.
" Wow Man, Colorado Wrecks Face "
[censored]'N'a Homeboy
See, check out the Cap Stone . The Free Masons put that there, I think they have some kind of association with the Illuminate.
The inscription on the Cap Stone reads ;

New World Airport Commision.

"The Stanley Slasher"

many many years ago, there was a logging camp on the upper Nashwaak river.. one evening, the loggers were playing a game of Poker with their cook, but they cheated him out of his money..
when the cook found out, he began to go out to the river where the loggers were working to "teach them a lesson", however he fell off a log, hit his head and drowned..
the loggers buried him in the nearby woods, at a grave-site that still exists to this day..

it is said that on warm spring and summer days, while the river is high, that those camping in the area can hear him slowly clawing his way up the cliffs, seeking those who now hold the money that was once his...

Where are you from?

http://ufos.about.com/od/ufohistory/a/wp1.htm then, it might help explain it a little. Personally, I don't buy a bit of the whole alien crash theory. Experimental airplane most likely crashed over Roswell that night

Mostly La Llorona. There are way more, but I can't seem to think of any right now.

La Llorona pretty much drowned her kids for various reasons depending on who you ask, then drowned herself. She haunts various locations, usually by a river, crying "Mis Hijos!", "My children!" in English, and takes kids from their homes and drowns them for some reason.

There have been legends for over a century about a mysterious large black cat-like creature living in the Blue Mountains of NSW. It's typically referred to as the "Blue Mountains Panther". There is also the legend from the nearby city of Campbelltown of "Fisher's Ghost", the ghost of Frederick George Fisher who was apparently murdered and then haunted the man who killed him until his hanging and to this day supposedly hangs around the rail-lines.

Surprised you've never heard of it, maybe you are too young to know, maybe it just isn't discussed as much as it used to be.

Anyway, you do know that Mythbusters busted the whole faked moon landing nonsense years ago, right?

I'm surprised that you think the moon landing was fake, but you have never heard of the Roswell UFO and how it is stored at Wright Pat. In the world of conspiracy theories those are easily in the top 10 most known one, maybe even top 5.

My great grandpa was hired to install the elevators in the Empire State Building. Someone turned the elevator on by mistake and he fell down the entire shaft and died. A couple of years ago I read that one of the elevators in the Empire State building is supposedly haunted by a ghost.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montauk_monster Is another one I remember.

Nah the MTA tried charging them money to travel so they left haha.

The ninja turtles thing I've heard once...In like the 5th grade or something.

We use to have one about this crazy cat lady....Short version.

The crazy cat lady lived in our building, lore held it that she would feed all the stray cats but, people started saying that She was actually eating WITH the cats and that her twin sister was the one who lived in he building. Needless to say, we never found out the truth...But she was always munching on something when we spoke to her.

I guess that is something yea? haha.

We have the same, a large cat possibly a panther in the Western Victoria, Grampians area, the government even payed for a hunt even though people have only said they say what looked like a large cat, and there has never been any violent incident with people or livestock. Ghosts we have tons, an old multi storey house in one street supposedly has one on the top floor, the main Theatre is supposed to have one , but thats just a story to fit with all the other theatre that are supposedly haunted. One of the oldest hotels in town, they have a turret room which faces out onto the street and a ghost is suppose to stand in the window.

The old jail cells, which you cant see because they didnt have cells like prisons now, the area is riddled with tunnels because it was all underground and they were more like dungeons because there were no windows and is claimed to be chock full of ghosts. There were stories for years of an old town underneath the CBD, and when they renovated a old hotel, they found a hatch and under it were streets and old shops.

And theres a myth that theres large gold nuggets scattered all around town, occasionally someone shows up with a nugget and claims it was dug up in town, and none of them were dug up here, one was claimed to found 2 blocks from where i live, the area had been stripped mined going back 2 centuries, so gullible people get their metal detectors out and waste alot of time looking for nothing.

There was a tunnel under the main road in the C.B.D. it lead from the basemant of the old cinema across to the bank which used to be the gold exchange, when the bank was there, any enterprising thief could have removed the bricks and broken into the bank of a night unseen.

That reminds me, many years ago there was a rumor and unsubstantiated sightings of a lion, suspected to be escaped from a zoo or circus in Russia, was moving around in the forests some ways north of here. I don't the think the truth of that was ever discovered :hehe:
