Legion and Stormcloaks

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 7:48 am

I was on a forum page the other day and it was discussing what faction players would most likely side with, the Stormcloaks or the Legion. Now I don't know much about either faction (because I have yet to find where the information is coming from lol) but there where quite a few people straying away from the Stormcloaks because they were "bad guys".

I strongly disagree with this based on what I've picked up on. Apparently the Stormcloaks are a rebel faction. This tells me that they're the good guys automatically. Think about every story you've ever read involving a rebelion. Rebels are NEVER the bad guys! No one rebels from the land of puppy dogs and sugar frogs! The Legion is probably an oppressive government filled with corrupt tyrants. Also, look back to Fallout: New Vegas, the Legion was the "evil" faction.

Now I'm rambling about something I know very little about but this is my opinion based on what I've heard through discussions I've seen here on the forums. If I'm wrong about something or if you agree with something I've said go ahead and leave a comment because I want to see everyones thoughts and opinions on this. And if anyone can give me a link to a topic describing IN DETAIL the motives and basic traits of both factions I would be very greatful.

Also, I'm hoping personally that one factions good and one's evil so that there can be a neutral ending. (Like in New Vegas, where the courier takes over for himself.)

These rebels killed the rightful king, are bigoted against elves, throw the country into civil war, and are just rebel scum in general.

The Empire offers order, stability, trade, and protection.

Every rebellion starts out with good intentions, its what they do to achieve their goals and what they become if they are victorious that leads many down the wrong road.

I don't think there is a defined good/evil when it comes to joining factions like these. There is always a morally grey area, both sides see themselves as the "right" side.

You might come to find that although the rebels are fighting a just cause, freeing themselves from oppressive tyranny and law. They are hiding malefic intentions playing into some unseen hand.

Along with restricing the ability to love anything Talos.

I'm in good hopes that this game pits both sides as at the very least gray. Then the Thalmer can show up to be the standard badguys, the bloody elves. Throw in dragons and I'm actually very interested in what's going on in SK.

Rebels are not good. In star wars you never found out that the Empire had created an equal schooling system (so that each planet, even the poorest, could all have high quality educations) They did massive public works and wildlife services. They got the intergalatic crime rate down to a record low, and unployment on every planet in the Empire was under 2%. They also provided the best healthcare system that allowed for extremly poor people to get high quality medical care. AND they worked hard to promotre equal rights, + support of the arts.

Not to mention Scucide rates were at an all time low.

EDIT: To the OP, rebels can be the bad guys. There are many points in history were this can be shown. Here take a quick look athttp://americanhistory.about.com/od/civilwarmenu/a/cause_civil_war.htm. The most common reason war was started was States Vs. Big Government and Slavery. Not that either side was bad in that war either, but many would say that the causes they were fighting for were not just.

Well they were taking leadership from the Sith which is the ultimate evil in all the galaxy lol. It shows us in Episode 3 how corrupt and power hungry the Emperor was and the terrible events that followed wiped out the most supreme good in all the galaxy.

Yes but after they fixed the issues caused by the terrible governmental mismanagement by the Jedi (that complety destroyed the intergalatic economy), the Sith were going to step down in favor of a republic.

Dude, you don't know your Star Wars cannon, the Empire was completely racist-if you weren't human, forget about any help from the Empire. Allowing and supporting the Trandoshans in enslaving the Wookies is just one of a thousand examples of racism, oppression and bigotry that the Empire actively supported.

A don't have a link, but I read that the stormcloak rebels are full of Nord supremacists, who want Skyrim for the Nords and free of all Elven influence.

If its of any assurance, I know an English teacher who's in his 60s who has never, EVER seen Star Wars and doesn't understand the big fuss about it.

As for Tamriel Empire? Eh, I'll join since I've played too many games where I'm fighting as the rebels; its gotten old.

This isn't a Star Wars thread. :sadvaultboy:

Neither seem good or bad to me at this point, the Stormcloaks or Legion, I mean.

lol I hope this is just forum talk.. rebels are always the good guys.. LOL

Also I'm doubting anything related to the disconnected crazy plot line of NV.

Also also, games gon be good B|. Sit back and enjoy the show instead of being a skeptic.

power hungry??!!!

and the Jedi were not power hungry!!! LOL

I totally think that the emperor was right and the Jedi were just religious zealots.

BUT in Skyrim the empire wants to force its ways on all cultures of Tamril, they think everyone else are just servants for them, and they even invented their own false gods system and want to force it down everyone's throat, they think they are lets say more culturally advanced than the Altmer or the argonians!!! bulllll they are just war mongering idiots.

its high time the empire pays and gets erased from history alone with all its dogma forever.
