Legion Assassins- can't walk 100 feet without tripping over

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 4:18 pm

Did they do something with one of the last DLC's, or something? Or a more recent patch? I remember most of my past playthroughs, even though I always got quickly vilified with the Legion, I'd only have to put up with one, maybe two random assaults from Caesar's Crack Suicide Squads (suicide squads on crack?), and then I never saw them again. I stopped playing for a couple months, then I started up in November, and now once you get vilified with the Legion, you can expect them to jump you pretty much every time you fast travel anywhere east or south of Vegas. Just finished a playthrough where they must have attacked me at least 40-50 times during the course of it all. While it is not so bad once you get decent weapons and are expecting them, it's kind of odd that they keep attacking so persistently for the entire game. Oh well, their loot drops scale up as you level up, so they're always good for some nice caps. Just wondering why the sudden change in their frequency of appearance, or if it was just me.

I've noticed Legion hit squads being really common in my recent playthrough, but NCR hit squads are still pretty rare. Maybe it was a recent patch. I'm not too sure.

They attack like once every 2/3 days but if u really dont like fighting them, then get your reputation up to accepted and then piss em off. That way ull get mixed reputation and they wont send assasins after ur ass.

And by the way their spawn frequency was tweked on a patch

Yes, a later patch tried to fix a situation where they could break and never show up and wound up making them stupidly common.

Once you're vilified there's no way to get back to accepted. In fact, it's nearly impossible to go from vilified to any mixed reputation.

Yes, and getting to accepted with them would require being nice and not killing them on sight... which would be a real chore for me. Guess I'll just happily continue slaughtering them. Anyone who sneeringly calls me a 'profligate' without even knowing anything about me, had best prepare their soul to crawl up Caesar's bum, or whatever location passes for heaven with those vermin.

Legion Assassins are rather easy targets if you have high powered weaponry; myself, Boone, and Rex can take down a hit squad in under five minutes if they don't run off in every direction.

I've only encountered one assassin so far, but it was in the Ultra Luxe hotel in the bathhouse which was extremely weird.

That's not a Legion or NCR assassin...

Spoiler
That's someone sent by Mortimer to cover up his cannibalism scandal

I've noticed their rising spawn times too, it seems like everytime I fast travel to near the Grub 'n Gulp they'll attack me. The really strange thing is that the first time I encountered them was when I was walking towards Nipton after taking care of the Viper ambush party. The strange thing is that of the five Assassins, two of them had Centurions Armour, one of them had a Super Sledge and the rest had Marksman Carbines, that was one of the hardest fights I've had in that playthrough. Finally I'll get to the strange thing: now whenever I get a party of Legion Assassins, I'll usually get one Praetorian, one Vexilarius and about three Veterans. I was level 25 when I finally noticed that I hadn't seen a Centurion Assassin for about 10 levels.

I'm actually having the same problem in Fallout 3 with the Talon Company as well.

But yeah the Legion is [censored] annoying how much I get attacked. It's almost every other time I fast travel.

You'd think that with the sheer amount of men that Caesar's sending after you, he might not ignore you altogether and take all his raiding parties to kick NCR out of Hoover Dam. After you play the game long enough, you start thinking, "So Caesar must have a LOT of men if he's diverting so many just to kill me. Wonder why he even needs help taking over Hoover Dam at all."

I remember the first time I encountered them, I loaded up my gatling laser, and a combination of me, ED-E's upgraded gun and Raul's Medicine Stick made short work of them.

It's a bit silly to charge at power armor wearing me with nothing but melee weapons and a few bolt/lever actions.

They seem to spawn every 2/3 game days. So I just fast travel to Diablo Gas Station/Bar near Helios every couple days, and use the cover of the gas station to take them down pretty quickly with a Ranger Sequoia. Its free loot! Although they took down my health in Explorer Gear pretty quickly.

I remember getting attacked while on top of Helios One waiting to turn the system on. After I completed killing them (and the quest), I headed down the road just past the same gas station and got attacked again and it was maybe only a day in game. At least I made a lot of money off of them.

NCR needs to beef up their security detail. Gotta teach the troopers what Legion patrols look like, so they don't let them in by mistake.

False. Put on a legion uniform and talk to the guy who wants NCR dogtags. Then give him around 20 and you'll get mixed rep from villified.

Meh, never tried to get Vilti with the Legion, always liked them more then NCR.

I only encounter them when ever I go out, and this is on my less so active character; Eric. (Mr. House)

On my main character; Mai, I only twice saw a NCR Suicide Squad. The first one after I began helping the Legion, but they didn't attack me. Instead, Nightstalkers came to same by (TEEHEE) and they just frroze after I helped them kill it. Suppose if it wasn't actually possibly a bug, they'd be thankful. x) I was only level fifteen and they had like three NCR Rangers and one Heavily Armored trooper, and all I had was a gun (not even a Sniper Rifle) and Rex. So, I didn't think or address the bug, and just walked away. xp They never came back until around four months? Maybe six to five real day months later when they showed up again. By then, I was level 30 and hadn't yet gotten my add-ons in order to surpass level 30.

And I slaughtered them. :)

I'm hunting those NCR hit squads too lol only got the one warning, but I just came back from finishing LR. Level 21 in 13 hours, and I have some nice boom sticks now. I want to find some more Hunting Revolvers to repair my Ranger Sequoia regularly. Avoiding Jury Rigging this time around, even though it is awesome. Going with a light armor character and I need to get my criticial perks and DT up first.

Hehehe, wait.. wow.. you beat LR in thirteen hours at level 21? GAWD, -envious-

ANYHOW, I still if I was you would get like ED-E and (Seeing how hes the only one that doesn't care about the Legion unlike Boone and Arcade, then Veronica cause the whole BH quest... )Raul. Then just hide in one of the what ever places, and let Raul and ED-E slaughter 'em.

Thats what I did when I was in one of those stages at a medium level. x)

Meh, I think I got a warning too.. not sure if I decided to kill 'em all when they turned away, or what ever.

The hit squads are a pain in the ass. There have been playthroughs were literally everywhere I went there was a bunch of overpowered CL idiots waiting.
They got worse since a update.

They were even there when I did a very fast CL playthrough to get the trophy!

I had accepted reputation, and the damn hit squads appeared still.

They just don't know when to give up...

You'd think by the time you get to level 30 the entire Legion Assassin branch would be extinct.. lordly.. x.x
