» Wed May 16, 2012 8:25 pm I can't quite remember where I came upon Leifnarr's corpse, but when I investigated it I received a quest to go tell his family that he was dead. That's all fine and dandy, but there is no quest pointer on the map to show the area to go to for the next step in the quest. Now, I'm all for adventuring, so don't think this post is a complaint about a lack of quest markers. After playing the game for many hours and not finding Leifnarr's family, I decided to go snoop around on the net. Apparently, if you go to Heartwood Mill at some point, a female Human named "Grosta" is supposed to make a request of you to find her dead son. Herein lies the problem. I've already found her dead son, and for some reason I can't tell her that I found him. My only chat option is "Is running a mill difficult", to which her response is that it's very hard, since it's just her and the kid with Leifnarr gone.
Additional note: I just killed Grosta as a test and it failed the quest upon her death. Note that this is obviously not a solution, I just wanted to provide further testing information.
Heal Valdr's Injuries
The other quest I am having trouble with (most likely is bugged), is the quest to heal Valdr. I was adventuring in the western portion of the map (again, I can't remember exactly where, Skyrim is huge!) and heard some guy yelling for help as I rode past him on my horse. I turned around, went back to him, dismounted, and talked to him. He described hunting a mother bear with his two friends, and then being attacked by some Spriggans, I think they're called. I had two options to heal him, either by magick, or by potion. I couldn't do either (not skilled in magic, had no potions), so I decided to run in to the cave and make quick work of the Spriggans and hopefully to find some healing potions. Well, I did kill the Spriggans, but I never did find any healing potions. When I exited the cave I noticed Valdr had passed, and that there was nothing of interest on his person. I never thought of it anymore and continued on my way. Problem is, the quest is still in my journal. \
Additional note: Did a little digging and found out that Valdr sits outside "Moss Mother Cavern". I went back to pay Valdr another visit, and he is still dead.
Side note: Interesting fact about both of these quests. Some quests have the option to press "M" on your keyboard while hovering over them to take you to the marker on the map so you can see where go next. Both of these quests point to Windhelm when I do this, and when I track them no points show up anywhere on the map, including in Windhelm.
Are these bugs something I can fix in game, or is this something that has to be fixed in a patch? I really don't like having quests in my log that I can't finish.
