[REL] Leijing Hill

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 1:08 pm

I am making a thread for this mod because this is one of the first mods I ever released and I am thinking about making a small update to it in order to make it a little better landscape-wise and such.

And plus some of you may have missed it before...

Leijing Hill

This mod has been cleaned with enchanted editor.

This mod adds an Asian/Akaviri style home to the grazelands. To get to the house go to Vos and talk to the guy that is wandering around outside of the Varo Tradehouse.
This mod is all vanilla morrowind except for Dongle's animated water pack which I used for the pool and the washroom. I created the house so that you can enter without having to load through any doors and the effect of being able to see through all of the walls to the trees beyond is very neat.
There is a cellar, bedroom, alchemy room, dining room, nonfunctioning archery room (unless you use the training dummy replacer), library, washroom, and a display room.
The house functions fairly well as a house, just without all the bells and whistles of other modded houses. But it looks pretty cool and has an open airy feel to it.
I added three npcs. One travels to and from Leijing. The others are a magic service guy and a trader.
I don't think that the trader's goods are unbalancing considering that you have to pay for them all and you can't steal them but I might be wrong.

Looks pretty good; I like the creative use of different meshes for the basemant. Better than just the "normal" tilesets B)

Yeah they really were priceless. Back then I didn't even really realize who Quatloos really was, but I have grown to cherish that mod because it drew her attention. Her comments really helped me out.

Hehe, glad it has inspired you. I always wanted to just be able to walk into a building in Morrowind when I first played (rather than load an interior cell). So I made it possible (I still actually use this as a home for my players, cause I like the view :))

That looks amazing! :goodjob:

Thanks, I just distinctly remember that roof being the largest pain in the butt ever! That's what has kept from redoing the second version. Maybe now with my new knowledge I will retackle a second version...

I have always used either castle hestatur or castle vianden as my home....however, I think I just discovered my new "summer" home for all of my characters. This is undeniably the coolest idea for a house mod I have ever seen, making it so that it doesn't require load doors is just incredible, 10/10 for creativity alone, not to mention pure functionality.

It looks really good, kinda reminds me of a Chinese style pagoda, which to me is an added bonus. How long did it take you to make, I know from personal experience that landscaping and placement on the construction set is a real time consumer.

I just remember it taking a long time  and I know I still didn't get everything lined up. If I make a new version I will remake the smaller pagodas I had done before. They turned out fairly well if I remember correctly...

Thanks for the comment!

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the style anyway, but this has to be one of the most beautiful homes I've seen that uses it. Thanks for going back and fixing this up, it would have been a real shame to have missed out on this.

Thanks. It means a lot hearing praise for this mod. It was one of my earliest attempts at 'modding to release' and it has a lot of sentimental value for me :touched:

Don't be so humble, you deserve the praise, this mod is creative, functional and quite beautiful. Many mods are creative, many are functional, and many are beautiful, it is a relative rarity to find one that is all 3.

P.S. There are obviously other great mods out there, but I'm not sure I've seen any other first mod gems quite like this.

Well, probably best that you didn't know then, but there has been for years an exterior-as-interior home: Real House - but yours is the first and to my knowledge only mod that does it Asian style and the only mod I know that doesn't use new models to create that look.

Yup, it's good. It's very good.

Figured I'd bump this before it gets gobbled up by the BGS Oblivion... just in case someone missed it who might be interested.

This is a true masterpiece! :) And considering this is one of your early works, it's truly awesome. I can't imagine the hours you must have put into it. I've only seen one other house like this and it's a part of TR. Looks like I'm going to have to add another mod to the permanent list. :)

Between this home, and the one on the Vivec shore, thank goodness for all the Akaviiri flavored dresses and hakama/kimono from the associated mods. Just a little slice of heaven. Awesome work.
