[Relz] Less Annoying Magic Experience

Post » Fri Mar 18, 2011 5:38 am

I don't know the answer to this riddle and I'm not saying this is correct, but the adventure really began in the jail cell not the sewer exit. Maybe you could try there?

Good point.

Sorry for the delay and short answer, see this:
bg2408 is away for a time due to a hand surgery, and I guess noone else feels they can answer...

Riddles: The Imperial Prison is far off. Please think about the nature of the riddles again ;).
Spoiler
The books don't describe the main character's journey, but the journey the writer of the book has done.

Sorry for the delay, don't touch oblivion much during the weekdays. I get the burden icon.
A later loading mod is resetting the icon back to burden. Either load LAME later, or use tes4edit to "copy&paste" LAME's icon into the mod changing the script effect.

Glad to see you back bg!

Regards script effect icon, I've had this problem too, but have been unable to pinpoint the mod stopping Lame's icon to work. What I did was use one of the other script effect icon mods availiable at nexus, tag it with graphics and import it into my Bashed patch.

I added this to my game as a prerequisite for Integration: The Stranded Light. LAME has since shown me that it is a necessary component to my game, always and forever more.

Thank you for making my magic experience Much less annoying! :twirl:

Thanks, looked it up in TES4Edit and it turns out willful resistance was overriding the new icon. Moved willful resistance up above LAME and things work fine.

I have a question: Is it possible to increase the spell damage for LAME? I'm a fan of really deadly combat and like magick when it is really powerful, both against me and for me. Would it be possible for me to alter this?

Magic with LAME is already pretty deadly. 1 or 2 medium level spells hit you and you're likely dead.... especially if it's one of the drain health spells and you aren't at full health.

Anyway I've heard that SM has customizable spell damages, and you can use LAME and SM together.

Really? To be honest I haven't used it yet, but in the magick overhaul comparison LAME is listed as a weak variant.

Ah, thank you! I was having that problem too, and I couldn't figure out what was causing it.

I have a question for bg: How do we know if we've found a scroll related to the paperchase? Can you at least tell us which ones are part of it, so we can keep track? I've found several random scrolls lying around, but I'm not sure if they're from that, or just randomly placed.

I'm not bg, but I can answer that... when you read a scroll from the paperchase, it plays the same sound you hear when one of your skills increases. I think it also displays a message.

LAME is a medium one, like default SM.

SM can be used to adjust the damage even higher.

Though when using AddEnVar, enemies already have some much more deadly spells, and those are also for sale. AddEnVar spells are just optimized spells, like the kind of stuff you can put together at the spellmaking altar, which can be a lot more deadly than the default spells ;).

Random spell notes: Spell cast sound.
Paperchace scroll: Quest update sound.

Additionally the paperchase ones are all handplaced, and don't appear where the random ones may appear (which is in book or scroll leveled lists) ;).

Which spells do enemies use with AddEnVar? I've been attacked with summon bomb runt (not fun!) several times before, and I'd like to know what else the NPCs are packing.

There are only very few NPCs able to cast the bomb run, and all of them are friendly spell merchants like J'shiv.

AddEnVar spells are stuff you could create at the spellmaking altar. Optimized spells, no scripted spells ;).

That's odd, cause I know for a fact I've been attacked with it by enemies other than spell merchants. Unless there is some sort of glitch which allows me to cast bomb runt targeted at myself, I don't see how I could mistake a clannfear running at me and exploding for something else. Or something else is adding these spells to enemies?

Ah, thanks.

Random spell notes: Spell cast sound.
Paperchace scroll: Quest update sound.

I've never heard any kind of sound when reading a scroll. *shrug* I do get the "learned xxx spell" message, though.

That's what I thought - if it's lying out in the open, it's a paperchase scroll. I've found one of those so far - Divine Intervention. Are the LAME-specific NPC spellcasters part of the paperchase too? I noticed they always have the same scrolls on them.

Edit (since no one's replied yet): Oh yeah... how do we know if we've found them all?

With LAME, Is there any place except Arcane University that I can get the Summon Lich spell?

Maybe a silly question, but I just have no idea...

No, LAME specific spellcasters are not part. Also not all of the scrolls lie in the open. Just one name:
Spoiler
Rudi!

You will know. The last note is added with a congratulation message. Kind of.

Yes, there's at least one other place.

Spoiler
There are five new spell merchants. You probably know about J'shivrizza in Skingrad. However there's also someone new in Anvil, Cheydinhal, Chorrol, and Leyawiin. One of them, if I recall correctly the one in Anvil (Guglash gra-Muzgob), has all undead spells for sale.

Thanks.

I know Chandra the bloodthirt in chorrol, the spectral warrior I bought from her is really ass-kicking summon. :D

Outside of the many great things this mod does - even if I could just have this:
making magic less annoying. Examples: Extends many spell durations, so that you don't have to recast some buffs every couple of seconds
this mod would be 1000% worth it. Thanks again bg2408 for giving us another great mod.

I'm getting four lich spells at the beginning of every new game, in addition to the memory spells. Since I'm not supposed to, I'd thought I'd post it here as a possible bug.

Don't think that's a problem in LAME, assuming that you've got the latest version. You've probably got some other mod loaded that gives you those spells.

The Lich spells are from Origin of the Mages Guild. Either uninstall OMG or use any kind of spell delete mod/ Wrye Bash.

hello guys, if in my OOO+MMM+RBP game I replace the OOO spells tweaks with LAME is everything fine balance-wise?
I think that improvements in defensive spells (lasting longer) are surely welcome, and I like the moderation in buffing damage spells: my only fear is that conjuration becomes a must-have for pcs, since LAME increase very much the duration of summons and makes them more reliables... and conjuration was already good in vanilla...
any gameplay impression?

Heya,

Got me a bit of an odd thing going on with LAME, some of the spells seems to be screwed up (Summon creature spells as far as i can see atm). For example the starter spell Summon Mudcrab says it will summon a Hunger, Same for summon Dire Wolf. Even NPC's seem to be summoning Hungers instead of scamps or undead. Is this something known or is it something i did? I did recently install SM aswell and placed it below LAME.

Hope you guys can help me out, if necesary ill post a pic and my load order this evening, cant atm.
